If you drive your car hard this is why you need to add more than what’s called for. Both of these were factory fill levels. This is what will hurt your car…not an extra 1/2 a quart of oil.

And nobody here is talking about overfilling that much. Again…it has no relevance to this conversation.
We’ve been building and racing these cars for going on 6 years now. We’ve learned a lot about keeping them alive and no matter what irrelevant YouTube video you post…if an ST is going to be driven hard it needs an extra 1/4-1/2 a quart of oil. The 2 logs I posted above are just two of hundreds of identical cases. 1/2 a quart over stops the oil pressure drop on launches. Your opinion won’t change that fact.

Maybe you should send your data logs to Ford then, because apparently their hard use testing didn't catch it.

Many have. Every tuner that touches these things recommends this.
Your opinion is as irrelevant as that stupid video you posted.
And FYI Ford changed the oil pump and fill level for the 25’s. They didn’t do that just for the fun of it. People are still logging pressure drops, just not as bad.

I didn't know Ford made the change for the 25's. Is it still recommended to add the additional 1/4 - 1/2 quart? I have been doing this the last 2 oil changes.

I'd reckon I don't really launch it. Occasionally put it in sport mode from a red light, but don't brake launch it. Definitely WOT on highway entrance ramps when not blocked.

Just seems odd to see the oil that high over the top dot the first two times with 6qt fill.

I am fortunate to have lots of toys and I am part of another ATV forum. Our ATV's hold 2-quarts of oil. It is NOT UNCOMMON for many on the forum to run up to 1/2 a quart more in their ATV's. Now that is some perspective and you are worried about 1/2 a quart too much in a 6 - 6 1/2 quart capqacity situation.

Its your vehicle and you can and will certainly do what you want with it but I think you are being overly paranoid over nothing.

I believe in data driven decisions. 1/2 quart of 6 quarts is less than 10% increase. The graphs that @UNBROKEN shared do show oil starvation during launch.

Does anyone happen to know the height of 6 quarts in the pan? I cannot imagine the additional 1/2 quart raising the level high enough to run it into the crank to whip it. Even at 6 quarts, the oil level would raise higher than the additional 1/2 quart just by turning and hard braking.

Those screen shots I posted are from datalogs sent to ZFG. Adam is the one that identified the issue years ago and in the performance groups adding up to 1/2 a quart has become the standard at oil changes. You can find threads from Adam here discussing it as well.

Thank you for helping with the search. I just read all of this info, very compelling. I will be sticking with adding the additional 1/2 quart based on this data.
