Leaking oil?

Just had my 2020 ST (65k km) in for an oil leak. The dealership came back with front differential intermediate shaft oil seal. They replaced the base part with 4A015. Took them from about 4hrs to fix.
Total cost would of put me out of pocket $1,200+ but was covered under my ESP warranty.

Thanks to this thread as it seems to be a common issue with these vehicles.

Thanks to this thread as it seems to be a common issue with these vehicles.

I was in for a different warranty issue (HVAC blower motor bearing squealing) and they just proactively inspected the seal on my '23 because they said "Pretty much every explorer coming in now has this seal leaking"

Prob a good idea for folks to get under their vehicles and inspect theirs if this is the case. I actually did see the seepage but thought it was just excess oil spillage from the last oil change I gave the vehicle. Guess i was a little ignorant to the real cause.

O-ring for my '23 was part number N1MZ-4A015-C. No idea if this is the same o-ring used on the 2020's with the FADA issues. My question now is will this happen again 30-40K miles from now or if this O-ring an improved design/materials?
