    Rear differential brace

I think it all depends on which brace one uses. There are many designs now. Some like the steeda brace support both sides, so there would likely be very little torsional force due to asymmetric support. And then there are some of the older "classic" designs that brace on one side and might...

    Rear differential brace

Agree, the bolt alone isn't the end-all cure for the issue. A class 12.9 is only about ~15% stronger than a 10.9 bolt, but one downside is that it is more brittle. SO while the Ford OE bolt may bend as it approaches failure, the 12.9 bolt will resist this much better, but then just snap when...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

If its valve seals, you can pull a plug to inspect and usually they will be a bit oily/carboned up a tad if the oil is leaking into the cylinder and burning off. You say it's mostly from one bank? I forget how the exhaust routes on those 5th gens Is it 2 into 1 into 2 or is it 2 pipes all...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

You said the oil level was high. When you drained the oil, was it only oil or was there any sign of coolant? That generation Explorer was plagued with an internal water pump that is notorious for leaking. When the leak gets bad enough, it may actually leak coolant into the oil pan. If you...

    Rear differential brace

Kind tempted to check mine, but I also don't want witness marks on the bolt in case there is an issue. I also think if i go through the trouble of removing the bolt to check it, i might as well install a brand new one.

    Rear differential brace

I’ve found by way of past experience that the dealer holds the cards here and if they want to claim some BS vaguely related reason to not cover you, your recourse is to challenge it by way of legal action. Not always cost effective depending on the repair. This is why it can be helpful to...

    Rear differential brace

It depends on the dealer. Some are mod friendly, and some are not. I'd say as far as my local dealers are concerned, they are not mod friendly based on past experience with my Mustangs. I'd probably pull it off if i had to drop it off for anything.

rumbling noise when switching to SPORT MODE

Mine does it too. I've heard others say this as well. Forget who explained it, but they stated it was something in the transmission that resonates in the bellhousing. It changes depending on the modes and is loudest in Sport. Stated this was normal. That's a 3rd hand explanation i know...

    removing 2nd row seats

That’s what I ended up doing for the middle bench. Hated routing the harness in/out so I ended up buying a new buckle ($35 or so) and digging a harness out of a junkyard vehicle one of these nights I’ll cut it all up to make a sort of jumper I can just plug into the middle seat plug when I...

    Trade in with tune

I’d return to stock, or closer to stock. Most dealers look down on tuned cars or aftermarket mods because it reduces the size of the buying pool. I know when I was shopping for an ST, I avoided any vehicle that wasn’t 100% stock. The only issue I see with returning a car to stock and not...

Model 2026 does not has the panoramic glass roof w/ power shade. Is about a cost reduction or due quality problems?

If it wasn’t 9 degrees out, I’d have my opened today. Seriously, I love sunroofs. All my cars have them and if it’s a warm sunny day I have mine open. Sunroof was on the list of requirements when I was shopping for my ST.

    Module breakout issue

I don't think i've ever attempted to read those outside of forscan. You would connect to a vehicle and load it, but do not write. I've then taken screen grabs and then disconnect (again..without writing) and go digest what the AB had for data.

Who Has Best Deal On Ford Extended Warranty?

I cross-shopped Granger/Ziegler/Flood. I think I ended up buying from Granger but they were all essentially the same. Each was significantly cheaper than buying from the dealer

    Module breakout issue

Ah i understand now. The menu options just may not exist for your vehicle because not a lot of resources have been thrown at deciphering the hex code completely. Doesn't mean the option to change something isn't there. It just means you need to go off a spreadsheet to figure out what bit of...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

Thanks but I'm not looking to swap. I actually like the ability to swap from the 6-seat layout to the 7 seat if needed. I prefer the bench, but my kids prefer the middle seat out.

    Module breakout issue

The section with the numbers only is the core module data. The section that is in text with drop down menus is a sort of "translated" version of the as_built data that ForScan prepopulates. Not every vehicle will have this for every module. Usually as forscan updates, this may change...

Model 2026 does not has the panoramic glass roof w/ power shade. Is about a cost reduction or due quality problems?

It's a solid piece of glass, vs an opening roof. The actual shade itself is still there, which is actually a problematic area in itself as it's fairly common for the shade to fall apart. One could argue both ways as to why Ford did it but only Ford knows the truth with regards to warranty...

    Best Outdoor Car Cover

Agree. I covered one of my Mustangs for a winter, and you could see damage to the paint in the form of rubbing marks. I was able to paint correct it (and ceramic coat) it to get it back, but prior to that it was fairly easy to see the damage in the sun on a black vehicle. I now only use...

    Dreaded stock cat cracked

Usually they crack right at the weld or in the heat affected zone. But quick search does find other threads where it looks like it cracks in that same spot with a pretty straight line https://www.explorerst.org/threads/catalytic-converters.5041/ Edit: here’s a post on the FB groups. Same...
