Cold Start Lifters very loud due lack of oil

The 3.0 engine doesn't have "lifters" per se. It does have a hydraulic lash adjusting mechanism. I am betting that you have a cam-phaser issue which is known issue on these and the 3.5 ecoboost engines.

    Factory Speakers Ω

Check audio upgrade thread from @UNBROKEN . Also, the user @My ST is Better! also seems to have done a lot of audio upgrades.

High knock reading on take off

After sitting at a stoplight (I think that's what you were trying to say), your underhood temps are going to rise dramatically. That is a fact. Then you accelerate and given your current air filter setup, it's a good first bet that is the culprit. Now, it "could" be something else, but why are...

Eco vs Normal in city driving

It would all depend on the efficiency maps, gearing, etc. Comparing some BMW engine is not evidence. Even your quoted BMW story (for a particular model I'm sure) keeps the rpm below 2400. So your argument is that Ford's ECO mode is suboptimal because .... why? Once again, it would all pertain...

    Air Box Mods?

We can easily just do a bit of math. Let's assume the Whipple is 80% efficient (I don't know actual numbers). So just for grins, (and to make the math a bit easier), let's assume 100 degrees ambient. Since PV=nRT, and we'll also assume an 80% efficient compressor (it isn't), if we double the...

Eco vs Normal in city driving

The different drive modes affect throttle response, shift strategy, torque converter lockup, and AWD engagement. All of those affect gas mileage. In the final analysis though, gas mileage is purely a function of brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC). That number varies based on load, rpm, and...

    General Battery/Outlet Question

You need to find out the number of watts that the appliance uses. Then you can take the amp hours of the battery * .5 (don't want to use of all of the battery). Let's say 1000 watts for the crockpot and 200 amp hours of battery (This is just for example). 12 volts of battery * 200 = 2400...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

IIRC, the OP wrote in another thread that it was a turbo seal.

    Racechip GTS

The first thing is the drivel about 20%+ extra fuel mileage. That's a dead giveaway of crap. The car will use close loop fueling based on the 02 sensor which wouldn't be affected by this device. The racechip is a piggy-back system and works by tricking the ecu sensors into increasing boost and...

Ford Performance ST Experience Ashville May 19th and 20th, 2021

At the Biltmore, spring for the "Architect's tour". You'll get to see rooms no one else sees, and also see construction details in the roofs. Not to mention up close convos with the gargoyles! Treetops park is also a neat place if you like ziplines, etc. And of course, there are several...

    Turbo size

Small ones! Seriously, size matters in a turbo, but just asking for size doesn't mean anything. There are several different measurements. You have inducer and exducer diameter for both the turbine and the compressor wheel; the relationship is termed "trim". You also have the Area / Radius...

    Oil catch cans

I think catch cans are a good idea, no doubt. However, from an engineering perspective, if you don't have port injection, then you can use late injector timing especially during periods of what some people term 'Miller Cycle' to deliver fuel back into the plenum which can then 'wash' the...

    SPD downpipes

Thanks for that emoji-filled unintelligible post about US immigration, Canadian duties, government malfeasance, crime families, and yes, even undigested hamburger. Stay frosty and layoff the meth @F=MA!

    SPD downpipes

I think you need to think about your goals first. If you've read any of my posts, I'm a "bang for the buck" guy. You can spend thousands of dollars on downpipes, intakes, exhaust and installation of the above. However, a good non-canned tune from an outfit like ZFG will get you 70-90hp on a...
