2022 IC Upgrade - Rivets underneathe

It's been covered. Search "rivets", "intercooler".

Stick it out with ST, or call it?

I would suggest this- think about what your next vehicle(s) might be, then go to the forums. I think you'll find that the Explorer is not the only vehicle that has problems. I haven't had the problems some others have had, (knock on wood), but coming from higher dollar vehicles, I'd have to...

2023 Explorer St JB4 install problem.

It's clear that you don't know much about what's under the hood. That's called ignorance, you don't know what you don't know. I wasn't picking on you, and I'm sorry you spent money on something that's ineffective. If you wanted to be "educated or pointed in the right direction", I did exactly...

2023 Explorer St JB4 install problem.

Just to add to this- the 3.0 ecoboost does not measure airflow with a MAF. It is a speed density system. Meaning that it uses temperature and boost pressure to approximate airflow. A piggy-back system changes the sensor output so the engine sees less boost pressure. With the speed-density...

2023 Explorer St JB4 install problem.

I think those of you who are doing the "JB4" thing, haven't bothered doing any real research, nor reading any posts. There are only two reasons someone would do this on an ST (which has all kinds of tuners at various price points). It's because if you have a problem you want to do away with any...

    'Worthwhile' bolt-ons

@UNBROKEN I haven't seen any of those types of comparisons, but you are exposed to more of them than I would see since I'm not on FB. It very well may be that a 93 tune could produce a mid-teens HP increase. Having not changed my downpipes, I calculated this number as the delta between the...

    'Worthwhile' bolt-ons

Everyone has their recommendations. I'd recommend ZFG for the tune. It's a bit more pricey, but it's a custom tune and the HP device is superior. As far as intercoolers, I think the Whipple has the highest quality, but the CVF is very similar and is less expensive. Depends on your budget...

    'Worthwhile' bolt-ons

If you're not running an e50 tune (and the OP is not), I really don't believe that downpipes are going to net 25HP. Hey, I may be wrong, but I have never seen any evidence that this would be the case. Doesn't mean there is no gain, just that it's not worth the price. For anyone interested...

    'Worthwhile' bolt-ons

Intercooler is a no-brainer. Both for reliability, consistency, and (if you're doing it), towing. Stock turbos do not need downpipes or an intake. BOV has never added a single HP to anything, ever. And with stock turbos, the only thing an exhaust will give you is more sound. Short answer...

    New Explorer ST on off-road

I'm sure it will go anywhere a Subaru Outback will go....and look at their commercials! I'd leave places in Moab off the list.

    Gear Head Auto Octane Tune

175+ HP increase on 93/30? On stock turbos? A two year old chart? Although that chart looks kosher mathematically, something smells wrong here. Looking at the chart, I would have to believe that "splash blending" e30 with 93 resulted in approx 100HP over a 93 tune? In fact, it nets 20HP and...

    Lowering springs with OEM shocks

My belief is you should stick with a system. If you're looking to lower the vehicle, stick with Steeda components. I'm sure they've tested things together, rather than just putting out a larger swaybar (bigger isn't always better). For myself, I know the amount of engineering that various...

    Turbo Issues/No boost

If you can't DIY a boost leak, I don't know how anyone can help you. The only way it could be back pressure is if you had some significant mechanical failure of the mufflers, so bad that they are nearly completely choked off. Don't take this wrong, but you don't strike me as someone who has...

    Turbo Issues/No boost

Please don't take this the wrong way. I understand your frustration. But honestly, these vehicles are extremely complicated. You either have an easily diagnosed boost leak, or it's more complex. If diagnosing a boost leak is not your expertise, I understand, but then you're out of luck for...

    Turbo Issues/No boost

If you're trying to fix this yourself, you need to check all the connections between the turbo compressor outlets and the throttle body. If you don't know how to do this, don't know what "valve" was replaced, and can't respond to my question on "resonator", I suggest you take it to someone who...

    Turbo Issues/No boost

What "valve" did they replace? Did that fix the problem? When you say they replaced "resonators", to what are you specifically referring? DId that fix the problem? My first bet is since you have replaced your intercooler it is a boost leak. Need more info.

    Active Grille Shutters

I'd like to point out that the grill shutters aren't used to "help the engine warm up faster". That is the job of the thermostat. In fact, until the engine warms up enough to allow the thermostat to open and send coolant to the radiator, the radiator doesn't perform any function at all.
