    2020 ST.. rear end corrosion?

Growing up in Michigan, where we had crappy winters and cheap road salt courtesy of the Detroit mines, the easiest way to deal with snow and ice was copious amounts of road salting. I spent two years working as a mechanic after high school, and believe me when I say that EVERY job took twice as...

Realistically, what should I be prioritizing?

The only dyno I know of on the subject of the upgrade turbos on gasoline is Kruppa's build which can be read here. You'll notice a dyno on 104 octane, (caution, no mention of any SAE correction) producing 550 lb/ft of torque and 560 HP. This was on stock fuel system. The fact is that on 93...

I need a out of state vin number

My point exactly. I took the OP for a scammer since having a VIN from out of state doesn't seem at all to be "tune-related".

I need a out of state vin number

Could someone tell me how the VIN affects a tune in Cali? Are there Cali specific VINs?

Beefing Up Transmission - Torque Converter Question

You would have to ask Adam @ZFGracing about the particulars. It doesn't sound exactly right that he would make an e50 tune that would produce 500 lb/ft of torque, but limit a 93 tune to ~70 lb/ft less. Unless he's doing it because the octane and detonation/egt won't allow it. I don't see any...

    E50 TUNES

Just to flush this out a bit more, it depends on the airflow. For example on stock turbos, you can run e50 on the stock injector/pump. But were you to upgrade your turbo system significantly, you might not have enough fueling capacity. ZFG does have a tune for e85 stock, but it has to be...

Beefing Up Transmission - Torque Converter Question

Even with upgraded turbos, 500 hp at the wheels is pretty iffy with 93. You say you talked to Adam who limits torque on a stock trans, but did you tell him you were sticking with 93? That amount of HP would need to be created by about 500 lb/ft of torque and even less than that if he's raising...

Memorial Day Sales start NOW here at Lethal Performance!!

Hey @JakeLethal Would it be too much to ask that when you post, you don't go out of your way to promote Whipple SUPERCHARGERS (post #2) on an ST site? C'mon man, it's not that difficult! Unless of course your goal is to make every intelligent person on this site doubt yours?

Things you wish you had the dealership roll into loan

He's a spammer- just putting out an ad.

    Ethanol/Exhaust Question

There are numerous academic studies available online which address this situation. The consensus is that higher amounts of ethanol do contribute to higher ring and bore wear. So, it's probably not a bad idea to change your oil more often.

    Rough Idle When A/C On

This is most likely not a big deal. When you're at idle and the AC pump is engaged, it places a load on the engine. Does the RPM drop and not recover? Does the engine "smooth" out after a bit of time? Did they address the TSB?

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Curious about the bleeders (brakes look great by the way). I'm assuming it's a one-way valve? Might be somewhat more convenient, but won't you need to add some hose lengths so your brake fluid doesn't go everywhere?

    AUTO OCTANE DAILY/TOWING TUNE

All tunes are not equal, and there are tunes that allow for towing. It comes down to load and time. A tune that would net the best absolute times in a 1/4 mile time might encounter some problems with a higher load while towing a trailer up a long hill. The ST has very sophisticated anti-knock...

Extended Warranty - Yes or No

So, no matter what you pay, come August '27, it expires? If so, forget mileage, you're only getting one more year? If that's the case, (and this is only MY opinion), I wouldn't go for it. Two more questions to think about- what are the deductibles/copays? Also, what if you have a major...

Extended Warranty - Yes or No

It depends on factors that you don't include: How long are you planning on keeping the vehicle? What is the price of the warranty? What specifically does the warranty cover? How stringent are the maintenance schedules? Most vehicles that have some type of problem are going to experience it...

Cold Start Blue (burning oil smell) Exhaust

It's possible that it's only a bit of residual oil/moisture in the exhaust. However, if it happens very quickly after starting and then dissipates, you have to look at the heat source, and the fastest heat source is the turbine. That would tend to point one in the direction of the turbine...

    Gear Head Auto Octane Tune

Yep- but don't get your hopes up. It won't take advantage to make big HP gains.

Make sure you text drive very thorough before signing any paperwork. I’ve got a 2023 explorer st fully loaded, disappointed with a few things for sure

Your first and only post is to bitch about things which you should have discovered when you did your due diligence before purchasing? You never test drove the vehicle or made sure it met your standards? I assume the dealer put a gun to your head to buy it?

2022 IC Upgrade - Rivets underneathe

@Liver No need to feel dumb, you're new to the site. Occasionally new-joiners get someone to just answer them straight out, but depending on the subject, it's best to try a search to get more opinions. This isn't intended for you, but people who have been on the site for a few years do get a...
