Tune, don’t tune, I think ford would fix your car either way if it were to actually break. I say this because clearly the two bolt is the engineered correct design. They know that. That’s why there’s the recall. They wouldn’t initiate a recall if these were only breaking on tuned vehicles. They would just chalk it up to the tune. So unfortunately that means it is happening on stock STs. So tune or no tune, the bad decision of the 3 bolt design can fail on stock cars. So how could anyone prove a tune did it. Plus, ford is in deep with this. I think they know the math and will take care of anyone with damage.

That'd be my guess too, they'd just fix it it that were the only issue.
And so far, the poll has it at 1-86. My guess it's extremely rare on stock ST's.

Ford sells around 200K Explorers a year. I'm not sure 86 is a statistically relevant sample. They certainly wouldn't be offering a recall for one failure.

Ford sold 488,824 Explorers since 2020. About 20% of my local inventory are ST's, which extrapolates to a total 3 year run of 97,764 ST's.

1 reported break on an ST dedicated forum with almost 100k ST's on the road is a more than relevant indicator.

It seems indicative Ford issued the recall because a bolt fracture would have the vehicle rolling away in Park, of which even one occurrence is a dangerous liability.

Knowing how forums naturally attract those who are experiencing problems with their products, that statistic is pretty amazing.

I voted no. I have a 2022 with 1k on it.. Stopped and talked with my dealer about this issue. They said that they haven't seen anything "formally" yet as far as an action from Ford and that they wouldn't see parts for this till late 3rd quarter of the year... Kinda find that stupid, but if that's what they're being told... Anyone else talk with their dealer??

I also have 1k on mine. I won't see the dealer unless I bring it in for the on again/off again rattle I hear. The parts you refer to are for police units, retail purchaes like ours are only seeing a pcm flash for the e-brake.

Their real issue is that the bolt failure could cause the car to roll away when in park…

Ergo, Ford's wishy-washy recall pcm e-brake flash.

Have a summer trip planned in July with the Explorer. Its a 21 with one bolt. We were going to tow our travel trailer and now after this recall i dont think i am going to take the chance of having a failure towing a 4500k pound trailer at speed. Ford better fix this. I need the piece of mind this truck is safe and not just a computer update. Would a real fix replace the rear sub-frame? And add the bolt?
