Hi everyone,

I have the Ford Connect and when using Google Maps the navigation sound isn’t working correctly. The volume control while the voice is speaking does nothing. Maps is not muted. You can hear the directions but the volume is about a 2. The settings show the volume at 20. Did the test in map settings and you can adjust the volume just fine. It will be the correct volume for 1 or 2 turns then it’s right back to super low volume. Can use Google Maps with Car Play and it works fine. Any ideas on what is happening or how to fix? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2025 Explorer ST with Sync 4,

If your Explorer is a 2025 you do not have SYNC 4

Sorry. You are correct. Discovered this morning I can use Waze on the display and it works fine. Google Maps still does not.

That is weird. Google owns Waze so you would think both should work.
Are both up to date?

Hi Dale5403,

they are up to date. I did a soft reset yesterday as well before discovering I could use Waze. This is certainly a weird problem. If it was a problem for both I’d be going to the dealership but it seems like it’s just a problem with Google Maps. I know it was working prior to the last update but I hadn’t used it for a while so don’t know for sure when exactly it started.

I'm having the same issue for the last couple days. Google responses are fine, but the voice guidance from the google nav are so low, I can barely hear them.

I ended up finding the option to choose between Waze and Google Maps. I believe it was under the Assist and Voice option. Waze works fine and when I change it back to Google you can barely hear it. Waze will show on the center info system as well as the dash board with Ford Connect.

Mine started doing this today. 'Hey Google' voice works fine. The navigation dings and other sounds work fine. The navigation voice prompts are like you say, at about a 2 and not adjustable. If I turn up the volume during a prompt it shows a volume increase, but it doesn't. I have mobile repair coming next Friday to take care of the latest recall update and will see if they can do something with this issue.

That’s exactly what mine does. Would be interested in finding out if the mobile repair technician knows what the problem is and how to fix it

I had the problem - this worked (at least for me).

On the infotainment screen, go into Settings, Apps, Google Maps, then FIRST Cache and SECOND clear Storage. That worked for a few days - it went back to low volume so I went through this process again and it works again. It is obvious Google Maps needs an update to correct this problem.

Factory reset the infotainment system to solve the problem. This problem surfaced around the same time on Cadillac, Volvo and Lincoln forums. I have a '26 Aviator and it took a factory reset to fix mine.

Thanks. I tried soft reset and it didn’t work. If clearing cache and storage doesn’t work I will certainly factory reset.

Yes, the soft reset didn't work for me either. I wanted to avoid the factory reset, but really, it didn't prove much of an inconvenience. My key fob profile reloaded automatically, and there were just a couple settings (eg folding mirrors) that needed to be set up again.

Glad to hear factory reset isn’t too bad. Wasn’t looking forward to setting everything up again.
