2022 Driveline Vibration 37-42MPH

I keep checking back to see if they ever figured it out. I can say that my Expedition Timberland has been pretty solid so far.

Sorry you guys are still having issues. At this rate Ford will have a new model before they fix this crap and then they really won't care.

I have been dealing with this as well, they have replaced the driveshaft twice, replaced the transfer case twice, replaced the center carrier bearing. The latest TSB came out to install new bolts and shims at the center carrier bearing, but my vibration was still there. It is usually there after the car has sat over 6 hours. I still think there is something that may be related to the rear axle bolt recall, but still trying to figure it out. the servicing dealer says they are going to get back on the hotline call and see if they can get an engineer to come assist. At least this dealership is trying. This is a 2022 Explorer Platinum Hybrid with 14,400 miles on it. Vibration has been there since my drive home from the dealer in Ohio.

Forst the steering wheel was off and it took me a long time discussing with the dealer to have the alignment solution. Now the vibration is driving me crazy but it definitely has to do with the recall axle bolt

I brought in my Explorer for the same issue for the 4th time. FIrst time they said nothing was wrong, second time they replaced rear differential, third time they replaced the drive shaft, and now they have the car for 1 week and I am not sure what is going to be done to it, but I will update everyone if they fix it. They suspect it has to do with the recall for the bolts. Let's see what happens.

HI, an update. Ford decided to change out the transmission. We need to wait 3 weeks for the work to be completed.

Hello all,

I have a 2021 ST with vibrations felt anywhere around 30mph +. Most noticeable on the interstate around 74-80mph where you can see the rear seats shaking back and forth. You can feel the vibration in the steering wheel, front seats, but much stronger in the rear seats. I have swapped wheels and tires, with the same issue present. Driveshaft and transfer case has also been replaced with no change.

Has anyone also noticed when the vibration is present, their rear seats shaking back and forth?

I’ve driven a few other 21 ST’s with similar and more mileage that do not have the same issues, so I am convinced there is a driveline issue but can’t narrow down where it is. The dealership states everything is within specification…

@Gerr139, When I had mine, I didn't have vibrations at that speed, always around the 32MPH area. I can say that when I did have it, I felt in the front seats and really in the center console. I was so concerned with that that I don't recall looking at the rear seats.

We never had seats vibrate, only the car had it underneath. Like drive shaft or something else, Tomorrow I might get the vehicle back with new transmission, let's see what happens. Keep all of you updated.

HI, Ford installed a new shim kit for the drive shaft and replaced my transmission and it looks like the issue is fixed. I drove the the Explorer for a while, especially around 40 PMH, and no vibration. The transmission was replaced due to hard shifting and started to slip between gears. They said that it was covered under warranty so that is why they replaced it. I hope it stays that way. I hope!!!

Nice! I had the hard shifting too and they did software updates, they said... that helped with the shifting but that was all.

I also have a 2022 Explorer ST and recently had the axle bolt recall repair completed.


After the fix, I noticed that the steering wheel is slightly off-center. I returned to the dealership, but they denied that the issue was related to the recall repair.


Could you share your experience with this recall? Specifically, how did the dealer handle the alignment after the repair?

Just so everyone knows, my ford explorer had the vibration, they replaced the bolts, gears in the rear end, driveshaft, new shims for driveshaft, and the new transmission and it was ok for a while, now the vibration is back at around 40 MPH especially when the car stands for couple of days it gets worse.
This means there is something else there that causes it, maybe its the transfer case, I am at loss now. Someone must know what that is and admit to it, but have not found anyone.

I've had 2 transfer case replacements and 2 differential replacements before 60K miles. It's starting to shimmy and shake under acceleration. It's probably the transfer case again or the differential. Good thing I have an extended warranty.
