Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Have to purchase a new cross member as there is an insulator musing from the seconh hole. Does not appear from looking at my 2 bolt in my garage that there is any way to upgrade from the one bolt without replacing it. Crossmember was $1500 and quote I received from ford to install was $1300...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

I had a failure. It was in my vice. And I beat on it for about 3 minutes with a sledgehammer. You think they will cover me???:D:D

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

My dealer told me no. In his mind you are installing a superior Ford product. Kind of like my argument for the inter-cooler.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Thanks to @UNBROKEN . If you pull the battery there is a nice spot to the left of the cabin air filter. Look around on the inside and outside. I drilled from the outside. Clean it up, thro a bit of primer, throw a grommet and you are good to go. Check out his thread...

How many people have had driver side heated seat issues?

The only problem I have is it seems more times than not seat heating and steering wheel heat is turned on when I get in. Other than that it gets pretty hot when I want it to.

    New aFe strut tower brace

Not gonna lie, that looks like I welded it  Certainly not what I would expect from a competent welder. Should be stacks of dimes.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Completely agree! Some of us think they did this due to part availability and/or penny pinching. Either way, not a good look for Ford IMO. This crossmember is taking up way to much space in my garage. I need to get off the pot and either do it or pay Ford to do it which pains me.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

I got one door sound deadened and new components installed in that door. I will say this, sound deadening to the extent of taking everything out of the door and treating everything in the door and all that plastic takes time. I burned the whole day on one door....and it wasn't even a front...

Put in my new XS battery with the charging port idea I stole from @UNBROKEN Then I got the Check Charging System soon message. Worried I screwed something up with that bogus plate that mounts on the positive post. Turned out I missed reconnecting a small connector on the ground connector. Whew!

    Rear end damage

Yes. That's the sad part to me. The difference between my 1 bolt and two bolt is tiny. On the one bolt there is just a hole. On the two bolt, there is a larger hole with an isolator installed. So what, they saved a couple bucks on the subframe and another couple bucks on the bolt? The...

    Rear end damage

Just an fyi for those considering replacing the cross member. I got quoted $1300 for 8hrs book time labor only as I am providing parts ($1400 for parts). Was considering having Ford do it in the event they eventually up the recall to include the cross member and I might have a chance of...

Got the 0 gauge run through the firewall. Shout out to @UNBROKEN for the great spot next to the cabin air filter. Why do my hands always look like I went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson whenever I am fishing wires???
