Strange vibration/firewall noise on deceleration with SPD catted downpipes

It comes down to frequency and resonance which I can't even begin to calculate. I ordered 2.5" Lethal Performance mid pipes with the weave style flex joints. I hope this tones it down. I have a custom 2.5" exhaust system. The flex joints are probably a good start for dampening. I am aware of...

    AFTER MARKET MUFFLERS

Just look on this site for exhaust threads, there are several with several hundred comments.

    Lethal Spring

Yes, top secret bro science...seriously, a spring will settle a bit just due to having a large amount of weight placed on it over a period of time. Natural and no big deal maybe a 1/4 inch.

    Explorer ST Exhaust Comparison

Perhaps some more research is in order before you start tossing terms like resonator around! The reason I say this is it's application specific and has nothing to do with 3" or 4" or 2"...

Strange vibration/firewall noise on deceleration with SPD catted downpipes

You are simply getting increased vibration from the install. As far as your "installer can't see anywhere where it would be touching"- it doesn't have to be touching. The very fact that they are vibrating will generate sound. Ever see a tuning fork? That vibration is affecting the firewall...

    EVAP code

There were a few posters who had problems with venting on the gas tank leading to blowback. There may even have been a recall. That's a possibility. As far as "pump the pedal" to "get it primed", that is just your imagination. It doesn't work that way, the pedal isn't hooked to an...

What is missing on the 2022 ST from factory

A member has already done this and everything seems to work (according to him) https://www.explorerst.org/threads/what-have-you-done-to-your-explorer-st-today.889/post-56948

    It finally happened...

Nearly three years of pretty much trouble free operation in my 2020. Went out today and the entire Sync system is haywire. No audio- in fact the "Audio" touchscreen squares are greyed out. No Nav- It shows a map, of where it ended up from yesterday's drive, but there is a Nav with the...

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

FWIW, velocity is important in an exhaust system as is heat retention. The larger the cross-sectional area and the higher the surface area the lower the velocity. A dual 3" system may give you the sound you want, but it's not a performance enhancer. Here are two posts on the subject...

I'm just correcting your invalid assumptions. They are NOT invalid, nor are they "assumptions". You're so busy defending the product that you've lost perspective on what this conversation is about. Let me explain the EWG were used on multiple platforms you wire them into the JB4 on a specific...

PID Control is possible with a JB4, It's not working yet on the explorer ST but worked fine on the stingers Since those settings are in the ECU map, I don't see how that's possible. Airmass your correct, BUT your forgetting that its a full time closed loop car similar to BMW's and Stingers...

I am not attacking you or what you do in any way. I'm just opposed to piggyback tuners in general and let me enumerate a few reasons: For example, when you override the boost reference signals you are also overriding the ST speed density system that requires that information for correct fuel...

Relax- I didn't reply to your specific post, and I certainly didn't accuse you of anything "malicious". I don't know you, it isn't personal and I'm unsure as to why you became so defensive. If you read my post, I stated that buying a piggyback "over a good ECU/TCU tune". I was pointing out...

    JB4 thoughts

Y'all should just stop trying to make the JB4 a "thing". Just another piggyback sensor fooler. There's only one reason to buy this thing over a good ECU/TCU tune- you think if you have engine problems you can disconnect it and make it Ford's fault. There's a word for that, and it isn't...

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Does anyone really think a dual 3" system is going to make their car faster?

    QUESTION: Carbon Build Up

Plan on seeing DTCs after install. Once again (yes, I keep harping on this theme), something that you might have used 30+ years ago will NOT work on the ST. The PCV system is now digital and electronically controlled. There is additionally a Crankcase Pressure Sensor. It is expressly...

    Ford Performance Tune

Contrary to some peoples' silly opinions, the ECU on this Ecoboost is completely capable of adjusting timing and boost downward to protect it from detonation. I don't know how many times I can say this- this is NOT some '90s turbocharged vehicle. You don't have to use premium fuel- you have to...

Hello & I have some questions...

There's not even a choice tween those two. The AWR is a no-brainer...unless you're willing to pony up more money for the ID speed brace. https://www.lethalperformance.com/id-speed-rear-differential-brace-2020-explorer-st-idstrdb.html

    Wheel weight glue

3M general purpose adhesive remover is my go to. Safe for paint. May need to soak a rag with it then apply it for a time to loosen.
