Right on brother!

If people want to retain the 3/36 engine & drivetrain warranty on their $60k SUV, get the FP Tune.
If people want to brick the 3/36 engine & drivetrain warranty on their $60k SUV, get a non FP Tune.

It doesn't get any simpler than that. Denying this is just a form of self-gratification.
Our local dealer is really lax with tunes. My dads tuned Expedition has been in for a failed diff and failed trans. Tuned at 10k miles, had the diff replaced around 30k and valvebody swapped at 35k. Truck runs awesome and Ford has been great to deal with.

Finally installed the Ford Performance tune today. I picked it up at Lethal and the local ASE certified mechanic installed it for $55. I was pleasantly surprised that the automatically applied parking brake "safety" feature was not included in the tune. Cheers.

Awesome! Let us know what you think after driving a bit.

It's not just about the dealer, it's also if FORD Corporate red flags a warranty repair.

FOMOCO can call for the pcm to be removed and examined (something that has been documented by every manufacturer).

If they don't like what they find, the warranty is void and the repair is on the customer's dime. As long as people understand that, fine.

But some deniers here want to convince us that their 3rd party tunes are on the same warranty level as the FP Tune. Lies are never fine.

Awesome to hear you're enjoying the FP tune!

When I go in for routine maintenance at the dealer I tell the person who handled my FP tune install how happy I am with it. :)

Ford can do all this stuff, but they won't. It's all a numbers game. They won't consume engineering resources over trying to stiff a customer a couple thousand dollar repair. It ends up being a net loss for them.

I have another example, my wife's old 2014 SRT Grand Cherokee. At 30k miles, its *third* transmission had failed. Intake, tune, exhaust. On trans 3, Chryslers FINALLY flew out someone to investigate the car. They pulled the ECU cal, saw it was tuned and... covered the replacement of the transmission entirely. There was a failed heater that caused the problem and was never replaced. It's all about cause.

Fords not gonna void your entire warranty over an engine calibration, but everyone knows that. Do you jeopardize you odds of repair when the block is windowed? Sure, but I've not heard of that happening stock or tuned. You do have loads of tuned guys having axles, diffs, and transmissions replaced under warranty here though.

I get what you're trying to say but it's not doom and gloom for a 3rd party calibration. Use discretion.

You sure the tune was actually installed? Just wondering as you're the first person I've heard of that got the FP tune and didn't have the auto parking brake modification added. Last I knew it was not a selectable feature or option.

He’s an absolute moron…don’t feed the troll and hopefully it’ll go away on its own.

Hi, yep performance tune installed, no auto parking brake. I have only driven it about 30 km so far so I have little to comment on yet. The one thing I have noticed is that it really sits down on a launch now. Cheers.

My 2020 is a four bolt and the FP tune is vin specific, just wondering if it is not covered by the recall for some reason?

I thought the tune had the recall built in. Talking about the automatic ebrake when shifting into park.

One thing I have noticed with the FP tune, when in sport mode, the accelerator pedal is responsive over the whole range unlike the stock tune where it is full throttle at 3/4.

Spent over an hour on the phone with my local Ford Dealership, the Ford Performance Hotline, and Ford ESP trying to find out if the FP tune would void my ESP. The short answer is nobody knows (shocking). Dealership didn't know, so I called the FP Hotline. The hotline said the dealership should know - I told them they didn't. He said to try and contact Ford ESP. I called them and got a"could possibly void the ESP" answer. I asked how I could find out FOR SURE - they then changed their answer to the FP tune WOULD void the ESP. I'm frustrated that it seems no one really knows for sure and the ESP folks defaulted to "yes it will void your ESP" when I put a little pressure on them. I'd love to have a tune, but I'm not willing to give up my 7 year, 100k mile ESP. It is what it is I guess.

Its been posted plenty of times that this tune will void the ESP.

It also shortens the drivetrain warranty from 5/60 to 3/36 from the first day it was services or bought new, whichever came first

Mr Fire Guy though will block you for posting this haha

Gotta do what you gotta do.

One thing is for dang sure though, with 3rd party tunes your warranty can be voided by FORD at will.

With the FP tune you retain your 3/36, which literally puts it ahead of everything else out there. Hands down.

It was an unexpected gift that the FP tune eliminated AUTO STOP/START. But the Auto Parking Brake remains, and I can see why FORD wouldn't touch that.

But yeah, throttle response with the FP Tune can really startle you sometimes. It almost puts the ST into the 12's with no other mods, so I guess that's to be expected.
