What’s up guys,

new to the platform so I’m trying to see how “normal” this is

during WOT, higher gear/speed (50+), the transmission feels as though it’s surging. Almost like an intermittent timing drop or a soft misfire. It definitely feels trans related.

i went ahead and did a trans flush/new filter to see if that made a difference, no change. Fluid was clean, no metal on the pan.

2020 w/59k, bone stock.

any thoughts?

Is it like a shift flare, like it’s overreving when you expect it not to? You would also feel a loss of acceleration during the shift flare if that’s what it’s doing.

There were also TSBs for the 2020 trans. Might want to make sure they were done. Might be your dime at this point, not sure. Iirc those were more for hard shifting though.

I’ve read through the various TSBs. Nothing really applies.
It’s not a flair up, it accelerates without slipping, it just… it’s like when you have a weak arm on an internally gated turbo or weak spark like the plugs aren’t gapped correctly and the fuel is washing the spark out mid combustion cycle

it’s weird.
Guess it’s time to get a tune and data log to see more stuff

How old is your battery? As odd as it sounds a weak old battery can cause issues with the transmission. I found out on my 2020 ST, still had the original battery when I bought it. When I punched the pedal a few months ago to pass on the highway the car would surge in RPM then just completely die, had to release the pedal and slightly push on it again to regain power. Happened multiple times on my 12 hour trip. Took it to Ford and they found a code which indicated lack of voltage to the transmission control which resulted in poor shifting control under harsh conditions. New battery and the issue never happened again. When it happened I had a full car with everyone charging there phones, ac on, stereo on, radar detector, extra. So it made sense specially with a 5 year battery.

Just my outside thoughts.

If those are original plugs I would definitely start there
