My ‘21 has about 22,500 miles. I don’t want to admit that I baby the engine but, it’s not tuned, no launches, etc. I’m an old fart and drive it like one.

I see absolutely no reason why they should stress the engine trying to break it. If it eventually explodes, I would expect it to be covered by the extended warranty (isn’t it 150,000 miles on the recalled engines?), the Ford ESP or both. I don’t feel like the test is beneficial with respect to the life of the engine. If they blow up the engine, I get a new one. If they don’t, my engine has been subjected to additional and unnecessary stress.

When I go in for the 25,000 oil change and rotation, can I insist they NOT perform the recall test?

Yes, you can have them not do the recall. All they do is rev the crap out of the engine and if it fails there they replace it. The intake valve crack problem has not effected an Explorer at all, it’s all been the Bronco, but since they share the same engine platform they got recalled.

They can’t rev it past the safeties already built in…it’s gonna be just fine.

If it were mine, I wouldn't have those monkeys touch it unless the engine grenades from the valves with normal driving. I'm 100% with you on not having them intentionally abuse your engine. A recall isn't mandatory and no one can make you do it. I STRONGLY suggest you tell them to not do the test and to even get it in writing otherwise those f@cks will do it anyway.

It’s like a free license to beat your car. I’m not having them do it to mine. I’ve had quite a few fun long drives that I beat on the ST pretty hard. If it goes, it goes.

You should see what they do to these engines when they qualify them.

Granted...they scrap those when they are done. :(

Ha!
If they want me to come in for the 'test', I'll just tell them I've already done it.
My marina is on a 60mph highway with traffic that likes to go 70mph.

Sport mode to launch out of the marina is usually needed unless you want to wait for a long time...

I Called Ford Motor Company today and asked them about an extended warranty on the intake valve springs recall. They replied there is no extended warranty. Mine pass the test and they wash their hands from the issue. Last ford for me as being a Ford loyal customer for 50 years.
Oh I got my ST back from dealer with 5 miles to empty.

Isn’t there a 10/150 warranty on the valves? My dealer called today to schedule “the recall” (test). I missed the call and found a voicemail.

Yes that’s the powertrain warranty.
