Mixed up my acetone towel and alcohol towel when cleaning off some oxidation on the top flat part of my headlights. Acetone immediately ate right into the top layer. Anyone know if a headlight restoration kit will fix it or am I SOL?

I would also like to know. The top of my headlights have started to lightly peel.

If it just took off the coating you can sand the whole light and repolish it. I would have them PPF coated after that over the aerosol clearcoat some people use.

The restoration kit did a good job getting rid of the top layer haze. However, the acetone caused deep cracks/fissures that caused permanent damage. Fortunately, its on the top part of the headlight and is only noticeable if you are looking for it.

To do it correctly you will need to sand off all UV coating (whole headlight). Spray it with new UV coating. If you sand and polish only - it will get hazy in a year and you will have to keep on doing it. Plus it’s not as glossy if missing UV coating.

I used UV curing headlight spray clear and it still holding up and looks OEM finish after 10 years (14explorer). Used UV lamp to cure it as Michigan sun was not adequte

Or you can try something that do’s not need UV curing.
