Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

As an engineer, you're aware that you're given a set of standards to design for. If a dozen breaks occurs out of tens and tens of thousands, then that would seem like well within design parameters. And if most of those breaks occurred on tuned vehicles, then as an engineer you'd understand that...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Well, so far every single one of the 41 votes reports NO breakage. Is this issue as widespread as it's being made out to be?

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

I want the kind of bolts that was his remaining one. Lol Let me guess: you're an engineer who worked on the Ford Explorer!

You could be right! Come on now, you drove it. Tell the truth! You drove it and buried your right foot into the accelerator about a hundred times already. ;)

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Wow, that's a serious run of bad luck. Hopefully, the ST issue will be a simple bolt fix even though virutally no one's having any breaks with the one already in there.

Welcome to the Explorer ST Forum, please post an introduction

Greetings! Before you make any power mods, check to see if your ST's production date falls within those contained in the recall. https://www.explorerst.org/threads/safety-recall-22s27-rear-axle-bolt-fractures.3717/#post-47098 At this point, reported rear axle bolt breaks are extremely rare but...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

I concur with the infinitesimally small (albeit avoidable) percentage of breaks. Regarding omitting the 20 model year, I'll keep it on for right now if by some chance some do occur. Additionally, Ford has specifically earmarked 2020 model year Explorers as well. Thanks for your timely...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

While not even one person's rear axle bolt should break, three seems like a pretty low number. Right?

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Thanks for the reply. My ST was built in Jan 22 and also has 1 bolt. I'm not on FB, how many members are listed for that group? I'm trying to get a rough percentage of how many people have had rear axle bolt fractures.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

I can believe it. Ford seems to be aloof about the fix, and dealers are trying ot keep up with what Ford is telling them to do. Hang in there buddy. The poll I started here on who's sheared a rear axle bolt has 100% responding they've had zero problems.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

I know that Chrispw24 posted about the problem in his thread "Rear end damage", but I didn't see any others. That's why I started the poll, I wanted to get an idea of how prevalent the issue was.

What is missing on the 2022 ST from factory

My 22 was not missing any components whatsoever ... Because it was a 400A and had no other options except for a moon roof and roof-rack. Lol

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

This forum has 4,695 members. Let's say 80% actually own ST's (3,756). I want to see how many have had the bolt failure related to Safety Recall 22S27. Please, no flaming, arguing, personal opinions, or debates about Bigfoot, UFO's or the Loch Ness Monster. I just want cold hard facts...
