Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

JohnE is certainly entitled to his own opinion. But my guess is that nearly every ST owner is (n) at the thought of a factory de-tune. I know I definitely am! But alas, that no longer seems to be case. Turns out it's just an e-brake reprogram.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Easy there big fella! I bought my ST because it was advertised as the performance model, not the "de-tuned" performance model Lol I spent 15 years at the drag strip fooling around with Fox body Stangs. So yes, a drop in the ST's hp/acceleration means something to me. Quite a bit as a matter of...

    Rear end damage

A new bushing and a cover for the police units doesn't limit torque. The pot has now been calmed!

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

0-64 And that my friends, is probably why Ford is just doing a pcm e-brake adjustment.

    Rear end damage

So there we have it. No power reduction, just a pcm e-brake adjustment. Not the best news, but by far, not the worst either.

This gets more interesting with every second that goes by. Heh MattJ716, where are you brother!

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Didn't realize a pcm flash was a "part." Lol Or more likely, the person you spoke to just assumed a "part" was involved and responded accordingly. This recall of ours is similar to my following of global news for the past couple of years. More confusing than it is informative. Let us know what...

Anyone on this forum have contacts at Ford who can communicate with David Johnson?

That means you must not fall within the recall range. Lucky you!

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

I agree, any change in vehicle performance from how we test drove it is highly problematic (and I drive almost exclusively in Sport Mode). At this point, I would hope one of two things would occur: Ford's reflash would compensate with more boost after initial launch to provide the same...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

You bring up some great points about adding additional polling criteria, but if I did that now I think it could get somewhat confusing. A new poll perhaps? Regarding how the Safety Recall will effect the Ford tune (i.e. "acceleration") I haven't got a clue. As I speculated in another post, if...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

100% agreed. But what if Ford says "We advertised 400 hp/415 lb ft, and that's what you still get. Just not during the initial standing start of the acceleration cycle."

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

So if this info is correct, our choices are: Get Ford's pcm flash and experience a probable reduction in acceleration Refuse the pcm flash and void your warranty if anything happens to the rear drivetrain because you didn't get the flash Get Ford's pcm flash, remove it with a tune (when...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

    (y) Understanding Ford's recall, I still don't get how serious it can be when reports of breaks are as rare as hens teeth and they don't plan on employing a fix unitl Q2 and for police vehicles until Q3. ??? I mean, are they going to tell entire police agencies to put their whole fleet on ice...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Yes, I'm aware you said stock vehicles should be ok. But from what I'm reading, it seems nearly every ST owner is expressing concern so I wanted to address that point. Good luck on your install, and make a vid of it and post it. It should be both educational and entertaining.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Go ahead and grab the AWR mount if you want, no problems there. As for me, I have concerns over adding an aftermarket part and then something associated with that area of the vehicle breaking. The first thing I'm sure a dealer would do is point to the addition of any associated aftermarket...
