Certain fault codes will make the car disengage the FWD part of the AWD system, but a bad diff isn't going to trigger that certain fault code.

Run, don't walk away from that tech. That's not how these vehicles work, you can't force the car to be 2wd full-time, unless a fault code triggers it to do so, and a fault code for the bad diff isn't going to make the car go 2wd only.

Back pressure is mostly a myth. It won’t matter what mode you tune in, it won’t help flow at all.

Totally agree with this. Just had my tranny replaced under warranty, and the biggest disappointment was it being in the shop for over a month.

Third this. Everything sounds normal.

The bolts holding the brace to the subframe are known to snap. It works well as long as it doesn't break, but I've seen quite a few snap.

Oh trust me the Steeda brace has had its large share of problems and complaints.
