What's better on a cloudy summer morning ..

... than a drive through the woods!! (This is in Pt Defiance Park in Tacoma. It's a one way drive through the old growth forest, and I've often thought how much fun it would be to really zoom threw these windy roads! However, the guys in those black & white Explorers make sure that doesn't...

    Custom cupholder/cubby pads

Someone on one of the FB groups installed these custom pads for the bottom of the cupholders/cubbies and I thought I'd give it a try. I think they look nice ... adds a little custom touch without being garish. Vendor is on Amazon, cost around $30. When I went to order the red trim that I...

What is one or two things Ford should/need to change on the 2021 ST?

From an esthetic point of view, I'd rather like to replace the white interior stitching with a dark red. Think it would look sharp. Definitely would like to upgrade the processor/display response etc. from an iPhone 3 level to today's level!! Also, the OTA updates for not only Sync but other...

    Ford ST SUV Experience

Saab was offering a similar program (Aero Experience) back in 2007 when I bought a new 9-3 Aero convertible. Held at Road Atlanta in Georgia. Tons of fun!! I ended up with a small trophy for the "Most Improved Time" on the autocross course (we did a run as the first thing on the schedule...

Atlas Blue Photographs Well at Sundown

Thanks to you as well ... I enjoyed every minute!! Funny thing ... I also was never stationed at McChord!! Born and raised here, but never assigned here. 16 out of 20 years I was a SAC guy ... with the final 4 being in Japan. Cheers!! Ken

Atlas Blue Photographs Well at Sundown

Don't worry, I'll stop taking pictures when the rains return in a few weeks.... Man, this color sure photographs well!! Cheers!! Ken

    Sync Navigation Update

Mine took a little less than an hour. Picked a time when I knew I'd be stuck in traffic!! The updates don't change the build number of Sync, so I doubt there was anything there. Maps now showing 1 19. Easy as can be and the price is right!! I would strongly urge using a USB 3.0 memory...

Anyone else getting crazy good mpg?

Funny you should mention this ... just took a small "road trip" down I-5 to Centralia. On the way back, I hit the Fuel Economy reset, put it in Eco mode, and this was snapped after cruising along for about an hour. This stretch of I-5 is fairly "flat" so I think it's a reasonable test of fuel...

    Hi

Congrats!! And welcome ... we're coming up on a month and virtually no issues at all. Found a few screws that were not quite tight enough (like the left side attachment for the rear hatch spoiler, and the right rear cargo tie down) but otherwise all seems well. Enjoy!! We have noticed it...

    Hood Protector Installed

I removed the letters in order to clean easier underneath the protector. It was actually pretty easy to install once I figured out the pictures on the instruction sheet!! Ken

    Hood Protector Installed

I realize I'll probably be in the minority here, but we've had a lot of good experiences with having a hood protector to ward off chips and bugs. A lot of folks probably prefer wraps or protective film, but I don't like the look much after a year or two of fading. So, today was install day for...

    Project Blue Steel

Nice look ... but I think I'm torn about the painted trim. I kinda like the contrast the stock version gives, but this is quite nice as well. Ken

    Ford Performance Merchandise

Be prepared ... I ordered some stuff the day after we purchased our ST. The order stayed in a "processing" queue for more than three WEEKS and finally shipped via some weird DHL/FedEx/USPS linkup that is taking it's own sweet time to get across the USA!! A lot of great stuff there ... just...

    2020 Ford Explorer 10.1-inch Infotainment

Unless ... we could get a downsized version of 4. Sort of like when a new iOS version comes out and older models without the proper hardware miss out on features (example: face ID requires new hardware so it's only implemented on models that have that hardware.) I DOUBT Ford has the desire to...

Replacing BU & Rear Turn Signal lights -> LED

FOLLOW UP: went for a ride late last evening and everything seemed to work perfectly!! Although the bulb for the backup lights looks a bit weird, in practice it's really nice light. I'd estimate at least twice as much light as the stock bulbs. The amber turn signal bulbs are also perfect...

Replacing BU & Rear Turn Signal lights -> LED

Just spent literally about 10 minutes replacing the rear turn signal and backup lights with LEDs on our two-week old 2020 ST. Used Alla bulbs from Amazon as they carried a lot of 5-star reviews. Job was pretty easy ... here's what I did: 1. Remove this panel 2. Here's the door. The little...
