Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

When working, it seems to be quicker when moving from tab to tab. Like most software updates, most of it is probably "under the hood" and often fixes things that you may, or may not, be seeing. This seems to be the first time I've seen them try to push out the Maps update (far more data than...

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

Good luck!! I'm still surprised that it did something on it's own ... but there's no other way the NA 2.20 maps could have downloaded!! Ken

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

I connected the car to my home wifi, and turned it off. Sometime overnight last night, it connected and downloaded the 2020 maps by itself. I wasn't sure it was "smart" enough to do this, but it seemed to work ... my Maps now show as 2.20 vs 1.19 !! Of course it broke my Sirius Travel Link...

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

Yup, having the same issue. Did a signal refresh with Sirius and no help. Literally on the phone now with Ford ... guy's acting like he never heard of the problem. Maybe more folks should call in!! (800-392-3673) UPDATE: Rep indicated this is an known issue for Explorers. Gave me a case...

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

Initial load took about 20-25 minutes. It then restarted and said there would be more after a full power off cycle, leave the USB drive in. I parked and shut down, took care of some work, then started back up. This second phase only took a few seconds. Then it said to remove the USB drive and it...

Sync 3.4 Update (Build 21020) Now Available on the Owner Site

Did mine today on my '20 ST and it seemed to complete with no issues. Must be mostly a "bug fix" involving bugs I don't have ... because I can't really see any difference yet ... maybe a fraction of a second faster from screen to screen. Perhaps just my imagination!! Mac Users: FWIW - when...

    Hood Protector Installed

Sorry to take so long to respond ... ton of work took away my free time!! It is easy to get underneath the shield for cleaning and so on. I use Griot's Garage stuff, including an oribital for surface prep and polishing, I do have to switch to using my fingers underneath the shield but it only...

What is your greatest accomplishment in life?

Still rains ... A LOT!! But, we are finally edging into Spring so the sun has been out at least once or twice in the past week!! :). Not only did the bridge that was rebuilt in the late 40's stay in place, but there's a new one in parallel!! One way on each one with 4 lanes allowed each...

What is your greatest accomplishment in life?

That was always my "official" answer as well. Famous story about that DOD "neither confirm nor deny" policy ... back in the day, a reporter asked General Curtis LeMay, then Strategic Air Command's CO, if the bombers sitting on alert had nukes on board. Gen. LeMay's answer was brilliant: "What...

What is your greatest accomplishment in life?

My wife, family, and our son ... of course!! However, away from that family, I'd say having the privilege to serve in our Air Force for more than 20 years gave me numerous chances for "accomplishments". My 8+ years of "operations" were spent as a launch control officer for Minuteman II and III...

    Bluetooth/wireless charging

I have not had any connection issues with my previous XR or my 12. HOWEVER ... The charging pad which worked perfectly with the XR since the day we test drove it back in June, will not remain reliably connected or even functional with the 12 (non-Max). I did submit a bug report with Apple as...

Custom Steering Wheel w/ Carbon Fiber

Sorry, but IMO that's really not very good looking at all. I could possibly see replacing the black trim that surrounds the switches in the center with something that matches the carbon fiber trim on the dash. But this, nope. Ken

Does your instrument cluster look like this?

Not on my Jan 2020 build!! Tried various drive modes, etc. Have the slotted gray all the time (variable sizing, of course, depending how close I am.) Cheers!! Ken

What competitors did you consider before purchasing Explorer ST?

We looked at Highlanders, a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland as well as Rangers as "downsizing" alternatives to our F-150 Platinum. Liked the Jeep a lot, but felt we'd need the third row at times so it was disqualified. Liked the size of the Ranger, but we keep thinking that over the past 7 years...

Yup ... that's happened several times already. I am really not sure exactly how this is working ... but I am NOT complaining!! Ken

Name ONE ST Feature others might not know.....

I have noticed that if I search for something on FordPass (much easier than the in-car screen), then select "send to vehicle", there's a notification that I must have CarPlay turned off (which I do) and the phone has to be connected via USB to transfer the data. However, for me it's been...
