    UNBROKEN’s Iconic Silver ST build

If it all checks out it’s a drop in swap like the timberline diff.

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

The worst thing that happens here is I got a good deal on a replacement diff that I need anyway. The guys said they verified…they have no reason to lie or make things up.

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

Well if you google L1MW4000HC the only thing it applies to is the Aviator rear diff. If you compare the tags only the Aviator and Timberline share the 3.58L designation. The guy that posted it builds ST body parts and owns a body shop. He has a Timberline diff and his tuner has an Aviator...

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

Here’s the tag. 3.58L only matches the timberline. They posted that the L denotes, limited slip. Already been verified by someone else but if that wound up being untrue, for some reason, obviously all posts would be retracted.

It’s a Torsen…it’s just like every other Torsen I’d imagine. lol

Don’t know why…the half shaft PN’s are the same.

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

Update for this thread....Lincoln Aviator PN L1MW4000HC is the same as the Timberline, 3:58 geared 8.8 Torsen. I picked up a low mile used one today for under 400 bucks.

    UNBROKEN’s Iconic Silver ST build

I’m having rear diff issues so this time it’s a forced upgrade. After some research the Lincoln Aviator uses the same 8.8 Torsen rear diff as the Timberline with the same 3:58 gear we have…and they’re stupid cheap on the used market. I paid $358 shipped for one with 22K miles on it. I’ll have my...

    Steeda Lowering Springs & Swaybar

The only people that have any issues with alignment are using incompetent shops. The car has everything needed to align perfectly with any static coil on the market.

Subframe bushing braces and billet vertical links.

Everything improves…no cons. I’d rate these high in the top 5 most effective mods available for these cars…factor in the low cost…top 2.

FenFab vs AFe cold air intake

FenFab makes engine noises. AFe doesn’t. Pick the one you like to look at because they’re both the same in performance. S&B is the new kid on the block. Looks a lot better than the AFe.

    Transmission Won't heat up

I’m not even sure if the transmission t-stat will throw a code if it sticks open like the engine t-stat will. How are you monitoring the trans fluid temp?
  15. UNBROKEN

Starting in on the wife's ST...need some help planning a "mild" build.

You don’t need the diff brace, charge pipe or the t-stat. Do the IC and if it’s under 36k miles the Ford tune. If it’s over 36k miles the FP tune is past its warranty mileage anyway so in that case a ZFG tune would be what you want.

That parts guy is an idiot. Of course it adds something to an ST…it was made FOR the ST. Picking up .5-.75 in the 1/4 is common.

    Transmission Won't heat up

The thermostat could be stuck open…that would cause an extended warm up time for the trans.

Subframe bushing braces and billet vertical links.

I don’t disagree but until there’s actual proof the PIU parts are different I think replacing any shocks and struts over 50-60k miles will see a nice improvement….PIU or ST replacements.
