Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

By "update" that probably means FORD informing us when to bring our ST's in for the pcm e-brake flash.

It helps a ton, thanks for the info CB17!

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

How about 287? Or 384? Or maybe just 162? Arbitrary numbers are just that, arbitrary. And statistically speaking, this poll's reported % of breaks (0.98%) grossly exaggerates FORD's much smaller number that they reported (0.1%). Statistically speaking ... You 'da man!

With 3,179 views and 100 people chiming in, the total number of reported rear axle bolt breaks on this forum remains at 1 (1%). Not bad. Just FYI ...

    ZFG93 baseline

I think it would be helpful when owners post their ST's drag times that they note if they're 1 bolt rear or 2 bolt rear and if they are using any rear diff braces. It would help put things into perspective.

2021 ST rattling bulking noice going over small bumps!

Thanks for the info, I thought maybe I was the only one with a '22 that did it.

2021 ST rattling bulking noice going over small bumps!

I was talking about the blown engine, but if you mean the rattling issue, yes, I reported hearing that shortly after getting mine. I posted here about a Ford Tech fixing the flex pipe on a '20 model because of the rattling, and he said it was happening on '22's as well. I'll wait a bit (only...

2021 ST rattling bulking noice going over small bumps!

Seeing the one you wrote about was a '20, I'm hoping '22's are in the clear for that.

Did I see another ST today or not? (Lancaster Ca)

Yup. Owners do what they want with their vehicle. Was just offering a different point of view.

    Rear end damage

It isn't. Pay 50k-60k for a new vehicle, and then have to put in another 3k to make it right. C'mon Ford, time to get your act together. Otherwise, I'm going to have to consider Whoosh Motorsports $249 no-drill Rear Diff Mount.

2021 ST rattling bulking noice going over small bumps!

The worse thing to come out of your post was that an ST with 46k needed a new long block.:unsure:

    Rear end damage

Yup, that's our retail ("non police") pcm reflash for keeping the vehicle from rolling if/when the bolt breaks.

Did I see another ST today or not? (Lancaster Ca)

I bought my ST because it is an ST and expect the proper badging that goes along with it. I see debadging as taking away from the very heart of the vehicle. Of all the Stangs, high performance sedans, foreign sports cars, etc. I've owned, not a single one was debadged. Never even occurred to me...

    Rear end damage

I guess you mean the e-brake pcm re-calibration?

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Great news that everything looked good on your vehicle and they have not seen any failures. (y)

    Consumer Report on Explorers

Thanks for that post. It seems you haven't received your new engine yet because you said "getting."

Did I see another ST today or not? (Lancaster Ca)

Why on earth someone would buy a vehicle that they've sought after and then debadge it so it doesn't display what it is, is beyond me. As far as it being less noticeable as an ST, it only has two small badges (F/R) to begin with. I think Ford should've put another one on each front quarter panel
