Ford Performance Tune

Since the 365 hp engine is exactly the same except for tuning, I would expect you'd see the exact same results as an ST with that tune. So it's probably a better bang for the buck for your vehicle.
I read the installation instructions and it indicates the VIN is displayed. That might be a check Ford included to prohibit the tune on my Platinum.
Any Forum members know someone at Ford Performance I can talk with?

It's impossible to see how FORD would offer a factory tune on vehicles for which people have reported problems with, on both the 2 bolt and 4 bolt.

The bean counters are sure to nix that idea before it ever gets to the starting gate.

what octane do you use now? I see lots of people not using 91 or 93 octane. Is why I ask, if you dont use 93 you wont get 30hp. Im not smart enough to know HP and octane differences but they always advertise highest numbers with highest octane.
Majority of the time I use 87. Occasionally will throw in 93. If I tuned, no matter the tune, I’d do 93.

I think ford did the research. The breaks are extremely small In number. This tune isn’t going to change that.

Wow, finally. It is actually 30 hp, 52 lb-ft of torque and some transmission shifting improvements. Nice. I think a few here need to acknowledge that it actually came out. You know who you are.

I'm stunned that this is what they offered? Doesn't my K&N Air filter add 30hp with 93 at the pump...:ROFLMAO:

I was one of those guys that didn't think this would actually happen.

I dunno, 30hp for $700 relatively isn’t bad. People spend more on an exhaust and I don’t think they make as much as this tune. I’m in CA so I was considering the Whipple Stage 1 but that’s freakin’ $2100(but I guess that includes the IC for that price). For $700 and not have to worry about Smog and warranty issues it seems reasonable to me. I feel this isn’t geared toward ppl who track or drag their cars regularly, more towards those who just like to put the pedal down every now and then.

Exactly! Not everyone is obsessed with squeezing out every little hp out of this thing. It’s still just an suv that happens to be pretty quick and fun to drive. If a oem tune can provide a little extra power and maintain warranty and ideally reliability, then it’s a decent deal in my book.

Yet I bet you swear the difference in performance between 87 and 93 octane stock is a big difference. Yet that gap is even less than 30hp. So I disagree with you on that one and 30 hp is noticeable. You’re also forgetting the improved throttle response and transmission shifts that are supposed to be improved.

You can make fun of this tune all the you want, but we should be praising ford for at least putting something out and providing people with options.

Uhhh…no…I absolutely wouldn’t swear that. I’d make fun of someone that did though.

Yes, breaks are extremely small in number. I've been saying that since day one (you can't tell that to some people on this forum Lol).

But an extremely small number of breaks can not be minimized by the addition of even more hp/torque.

Statistically, there will be a greater incidence of breaks. It's just science.

Yes, I acknowledge being guilty of having common sense and reason.
Yes, I acknowledge being guilty of having the ability to utilize critical thinking.
Yes, I acknowledge being guilty of thinking that a manufacturer would not make a questionable situation even worse.

Happy?

Anyone actually look at that graph? It shows 87 octane making 400 hp, when the owners manual says to use at least 91 octane for best performance.

Untitlede.jpg

And the sales brochure states the 400 hp figure was accomplished on premium fuel.

Something's not adding up here ...

Ok but think about it this way, $585 for an aFe Intake for 15hp(going off AFE’s numbers & Whoosh Motorsports’ prices), & another $1500 for a Thermal Exhaust($1500 for 2.5”, $1700 for 3”)and you’re probably close to making the same gains right? So $700($695 from Lethal Performance) for 30hp is pretty reasonable. Even if you just take the aFe intake @ $585 you’re paying $39/hp. @ $700 you’re paying about $23.35/hp for the FP tune. Just putting that out there.
