Mine literally took 5 minutes. I had none of the issues you are describing. Yes the plastic hose connectors are a bit of a PITA, but nothing like you describe. Hoses have plenty of slack, bracket installed fine.

Received my JLT catch can, went to install it today...you know the "15 minutes install". Not so much.
Was a PITA trying to get the original hose unclipped.
Then the install, while attaching the threaded J-clip to the radiator support, note it doesn't just press on, it requires a tap from a hammer to get it in place - make sure the j-clip doesn't bounce off the radiator support and fall into oblivion when tapped.
Attaching the JLT can bracket after is easy, one screw.
Attaching the can to the bracket, also easy & straight forward.

As for the hoses, I found the entire unit to be under stress when installed as described. Hoses were tight & pulling. The caution about making sure the bracket doesn't touch the the small coolant hose proximal to it, should read not to touch the 90 degree elbow that is connected to the coolant hose. The bracket doesn't touch the coolant hose, it can touch the 90 degree elbow the coolant hose is attached to. Either way, the entire system was under tension, pulling the can & bracket towards the elbow. I'm not sure I could torque the bolt that secures the bracket to the radiator support enough to keep the can from resting on the coolant hose elbow.

Another issue with the hoses under tension, unclipping the JLT hoses after installation. Again a PITA, when the hoses & clips are being pulled away from center on the male attachment points. I removed the catch can from its bracket to take the pressure off and easily the clips would unclip easily. When everything is attached & secured, the hoses are pulled and the clips do not readily release.

I called JLT about the easy 15 minute install, stating that the entire system looks under stress or tension when installed. I was told the the hoses are a specific length for manufacture purpose. However when I measured the length of the hoses I have on the kit I received, they came up short by ~ 1/8 inch. In manufacture process JLT figures the hoses I have could of been cut short.

JLT is sending me longer hoses to use, while cutting off the original ones. Thank you to JLT for you assistance, support and solution.

So now I wait, but I have to say this was anything but a 15 minute job. I've found the hoses are too tight. Anyone else have issues with install or find the hoses are stretched too tight upon installation?

Over the years I've worked on all of my vehicles, oil changes, brakes, struts & shocks, engine rebuilds, etc. So its not like I'm a novice with things mechanical and this 15 minute install was not so much.
The install was easy, however I do find that one of the hoses is rather tight, maybe they had a batch where the hose wasn't the correct length. One hose was fine, the other not so much and I'd have to look again to remember which it was.

And 4th pic, after appx 750 miles. Glad I installed this! Tough to argue about their worth after seeing this.

I should of taken a picture with mine "installed" to show proof of how tight the hoses were. Your top hose is loose compared to how mine was.

Same here, the one that goes over the intake tube is the one that is rather snug for me as well. Updated with a photo. 20210820_094640.jpg

What are your thoughts on getting this if you are never taking this to the track, just gunning it on the highway from time to time. It's a cheap mod and seems quick install, I just dont want to get it if its focused mostly for those who are tracking their cars or racing monthly.

My vehicle will never see a track, after seeing what others have posted about what it collects and prevents from going back into the engine and potentially causing build up on the valves is why I decided to do it.

No matter the use case, ANY direct injected engine without also port injection (such as the 3.0L ecoboost) needs a catch can unless you like doing valve cleanings every 60k

You’ll still need to clean the intake even with a catch can. Catch cans don’t get all the oil out of the crankcase vapor. I’ve looked and asked for documentation of two like engines, one using a catch can and one without and never got an answer. I believe in them and that’s why I have a UPR can on my ST, but they’re not the end all for sure.

I think catch cans are a good idea, no doubt. However, from an engineering perspective, if you don't have port injection, then you can use late injector timing especially during periods of what some people term 'Miller Cycle' to deliver fuel back into the plenum which can then 'wash' the valves. I'm not saying this is as effective as port injection as I have no empirical evidence, but I have seen research papers that show variations on this approach. There are several manufacturers who are not doing both direct and port injection who are using variable valve timing to mitigate pumping losses (and thus increase mileage) at low rpms. They must be using some form of this approach or are using a more advanced way of trapping condensate and vapor. I'm going to give Ford and others the benefit of the doubt that they are doing something to rectify the situation.

I definitely like the preformed and largely hidden hose of the Mishimoto. Functionally, probably no different from the JLT.

Ugh..... that definitely sounds like a PITA. Like mentioned, your hoses sound a little on the short side. I also have the JLT catch can and it was about a 15 minute install in my 21 and there was no tension on either of my hoses. I hope the new hoses help.
