So here is my question, my '25 has not had the recall performed yet. What impact will that have on the tune?

Here are Adam's exacts words on the OTA updates:

"You can leave it on but if you get one for the ecu it will take the tune off. in that case you just read the new stock tune and then flash your old tune back on."

I turned mine off, becaus everything works fine now, so I'll eval updates before installing.

You will have an issue with the dealer unless you go to a mod friendly dealer I think you know that

If you reinstall the tune, you will likely erase the recall fixes of the PCM update. If it were me, I'd do the recall first, then tune it.

I guess I don't understand either comment. A mod-friendly dealer has zero to do with updates and repairs unless you trash something in the drivetrain, and they try to blame it on the tune. It doesn't void everything.

Secondly, if you pull the ECM again, after the update, and then reinstall the tune, it doesnt affect the new ECM config. That's what Adams' instructions are. If an update wipes your tune, pull teh new ECM data, and then load the tune back.

Also, not sure what recall we are referring to? The only one I have gotten is the bubbling windshield.

OK. No I did not get that. What was your build month?

Edit: I see 2023 to mid 2025, so maybe I missed that. And yeah, Id just wait to tune on principle until they work that crazy recall out.

Got my package from ZFG, did the initial steps and requested the initial tune. Can't wait to data log tomorrow.

Is it the BCM? Then the tune is not even touched. For some reason, i thought it was PCM

After about 10 days of city driving and one solid road trip (roughly 700 miles), I’m really impressed with the shifting behavior in Sport mode. Once you get used to Sport, Normal just isn’t usable for me anymore . I also think it took some time for my right foot and transmission to recalibrate after the tune and relearn process, but now everything feels natural.

No complaints at all. Honestly, if Ford had tuned it this way from the factory and added a better rear sway bar, they could have charged another $1,000 on the sticker and delivered a much better OEM driving experience.

Just loaded the initial tune and did a short 5-8 miles drive. Initial impression is the transmission needs to settle in...badly.

Yeah, those first few days in Sport mode were all over the place, but it’s mostly smooth now. That said, about one day out of seven the 10R still seems to have a ‘bad day’—maybe it just hasn’t had its coffee yet.

It acted out yesterday a couple of times with a hard shift, today its fine. But saw the same stuff with the 10R80.

Buy the RTD and the credits from ZFG. Once everything arrives, install the app on your phone, create an HP tuners account, and select ZFG as your tuner. Then plug the RTD into your OBD port, sync it with the app, read your stock tune, and upload it. After that, submit a tune request on ZFG’s website to let them know your stock file has been sent.


ZFG will send you a base tune. Reconnect, load it, and perform the pulls they ask for while datalogging through the app. Upload the logs and submit the follow-up request. You’ll repeat this process a few times until they finish dialing in your tune. It’s much more customized than an off-the-shelf tune, and the RTD + app make the process very user-friendly. ZFG also has detailed instructions on their website. I did everything with my phone, no laptop.


When you order the RTD and credits, you’ll choose your tune type (Race, Performance, Daily Driver, or Tow). Think of Race as full send; each option lower is roughly a 20% step down. The Tow tune is designed to protect the vehicle while towing—do not tow on any of the other tunes.
