Hey folks,

I had my windows tinted a while back by a reputable local shop. They did an ok job, and I was told to come back for any bubbles that would show up after 10 days.
It showed up in my driver side window, but they also found it on the passenger side.
But then, the guy working on removing the tint from the passenger side ended up using a heat gun near the top of the door panel long enough for it to melt and get distorted. I think this part is vinyl (can anyone confirm?)
Long story short, they offered to replace the passenger door panel entirely, but I’m truly concerned that it would end up in more disasters. Mind you, they offered to do the job themselves. I know I can go through the insurance route, but I’d like to go the friendly route first, and maybe they can compensate me some other way.
So, if anyone has suggestions on how I can fix this part on my own, especially if anyone faced a similar situation before, that would be greatly appreciated.

Door panel removal/installation is not rocket science. If they get an OEM part, let them replace it.

By that logic, tinting isn't rocket science either, but look at what happened. Clearly, accidents can happen, but it's not always easy to fix them or avoid them. In this case, I'd like to avoid them while I can. For now, I'd like to focus on fixing the existing piece if possible.

You can’t fix that piece and it takes less than 10 minutes to fully swap a door panel.

Yeah, I saw a video that shows how to replace it. The problem is that they can mess up the replacement by damaging something else in the process. I'm also concerned about other things like the ST red/blue stitching (or is that standard?), that they may order the part, but it doesn't match for whatever reason.

I think you’re overthinking this. Look at the door panel before they install it and you’ll know immediately if it’s the right part or not. After that, there’s really nothing to screw up. It’s four screws, a few plugs, the door lock and the door handle pull.

I've pulled many door panels in my day. It's actually a very easy task to do, especially on a Ford. They make these panels pretty assembly-line friendly so it's mostly 1 piece.

That area is molded, so a repair some be extremely difficult if not impossible.

The red and blue stitching is the "ST appearance package". It's not a common package and adds the red/blue stitching. Standard ST is white stitching. Standard ST-line is red. I've never actually seen this package, so does the red/blue stitching extend to the door panels as well?

I tried to find the part number for the Appearance Package panel on Tasca, but only see the standard door panel. It's pretty damn expensive. Again, this is probably not the right panel for you if your panel has the red/blue stitching on it. You'll probably have to search by your VIN or see a dealer to get the right panel if it does in fact have the red/blue stitching on it.

Looking on Ebay, I don't see any ST panels with the red/blue appearance package stitching.
