Ok, where do I start? This thing's been a cr4p show for months now but has never been sound since I purchased this ST.

1. I play music from a flash drive. It skips, it stops in the middle of a song and tells me it no longer sees the drive and to wait to see if it can reconnect. Sometimes it does but most of the time it doesn't. Sometimes I can still press the play button and it will resume but it can soon repeat the snag. Other times, if I wanted to pause play, it would do whatever the flock "it" wants to do. One time it went to the next song almost near the end of its play. Other times it won't respond for the first 10 presses.

2. I've gotten into the vehicle and completely had no sound. I couldn't connect to the radio, flash drive, navigation or voice activation. I had to pull over to the breakdown lane, stop the engine, open the door to reboot the display and restart.
Another time, after arriving home, I wanted to stop the music but it wouldn't respond to stop or pause. Thinking it was the so called "touch screen", I pressed the tactile off knob repeatedly and it STILL wouldn't turn off.

3. 25% of the time when I start the ST, I get 4 or 5 sets of warning beeps and posts like, No Hill Assist, No Traction Control, No Lane Assist, No Brake Assist, No Cruise Control, etc etc. If I truly wanted any of those features, I'd have to redo the key cycle, sometimes 2 or 3 times.

4. I've been here before on this subject and a Factory Reset was recommended. So, I read up on the process, what it entailed and what I was going to have to reprogram after doing so. Well, Sync couldn't even do THAT right.
I started the procedure and it initiated the reset and after a minute went to the black screen. I thought it was resetting in the background but after 20 minutes, I googled to find out it was wrongfully hung up. It recommended that I do a Soft Reset to get out of it. Fortunately, freeing it up worked but apparently, it never reset.

I believe I have the latest version. Correct me if I'm wrong but here's the layout.

Sync 3, Software Version: 3.4
Build 23188
System Updates: BO:7E:11:30:10:6A

I know this seems like a rant but it's actually informational and a cry for help. lol
Any creative thoughts?

Thanks.

I'm on 23188 and lately I've had to soft reset several times a week. My battery is over 4.5 years old and that may make it worse somehow too. I've noticed when I remote start and let it warm up before starting Sync, the audio is off and won't turn on until I do a soft reset. I won't do a factory reset unless it's inoperable because I don't want to lose my favorites and history. After the 2023 software update debacle where I was in Sync hell for over 5 months until the latest update, I think our software has no further updates or support. And without warranty replacing the module will be very expensive. I have a $100 deductible for repairs for about another year. So I'll do that as a last resort before trading the vehicle in. LOL

You can try unplugging the battery for 20 minutes to do a “hard reset”, otherwise there’s not much you can do.

Thanks for the hit.
Not like I'd wish this on anyone else but I'm glad it's not proprietary to my vehicle. I've always said that it's got so many display features, it confuses itself. You'd figure with all the money spent on these things it would have some semblance of order.
That must be a p-i-t-a having to reset so often. Have you ever approached stealership service about it? I'd hate to have to spend all that money for a new module and find out it wasn't the problem.

You mentioned your battery possibly being a culprit. With that said, mine could be of age especially with the 24hr drain I put on it with the cam. Although I can see that being a problem with the engine off, it shouldn't have a low voltage problem with it running.
Just another case of planned obsolescence I guess.

Guess I'll have to try that. I'm up for "any" cure at this point. Thanks for your thought.

Does our vehicle have one battery or 2? My friend keeps saying that if you have Auto Start/Stop then you have 2 batteries. Is this true?

Mine definitely has two (but the second is in my flashlight :ROFLMAO:).

One, don’t know what your friends reasoning by saying that is but we only have one.

Yes, we have 2 batteries. One, the main battery is inside the cowl under the hood. The second is inside the left panel of the cargo area. It is responsible for the Start/Stop operations and prevents glitches in the electronics during the process.
