Radar Detector Suggestions

Thinking about purchasing a radar detector. I haven’t had one since early 2000’s ( yes I’m old) and was wondering is it worth it to purchase? I was looking at the Uniden R3 but for the money would it be worth it? Any of you running a radar detector and which one would you suggest? Not looking to pay more than $300 max.

R3 is pretty solid. However, I'd reconsider your budget with R4 and R8 out that are a significant bump up in performance.

My Valentine V2 wasn't cheap (it's about 2/3 paid for ), but it sure picks up a good ways off and shows how many and where.
