Im building a center console sub box between the middle row this weekend. Single 8” alpine type s. Sub will be down firing with a slot port to the rear. According to alpines spec sheet they say a port tuned between 36-40hz is ideal.

i was planning on splitting the difference at 38hz. Is there any reason to go one direction or the other within that 36-40hz range?

box volume that ive roughly planned is right at .71xx ft^3 and with sub and port displacement brings it down near .58-.60ft^3 which is right on the nose for suggested airspace.
getting 350-400w rms

Using a (free) program like WinISD why don't you try seeing the impact of changing the tuned port frequency between 36 and 40hz. I'm guessing it isn't that much of a change in the roll-off.
