Was messing around with the ST build on the Ford side and saw a couple interesting facts. First there is a discount for the Panoramic Fixed Glass Roof if the Sun and Sound package is chosen. Doesn't say what it is. Why? And second, 2nd row captain's chairs are only available with RWD. If you want AWD, you can only get the 35/30/35 seat. Wonder why?

Please allow me to reword what you said. From what I have read, all explorer STs have 2nd row captain's chairs standard, but if you want the 35/30/35 seat, you also need to select Intelligent 4WD. For the fixed glass roof, I read in other posts that ford has replaced the power moonroof with a fixed glass roof for 2026.

I’m very curious about the AWD needing the bench seat, it doesn’t say that in the order guide, so it’s interesting the online configurator is making you do that.

I would say it is the opposite of that. the AWD does not "need the bench seat", but if you want to add the bench seat to your order, then you also need to add AWD. In other words, when you add the bench seat to your order, the configurator also forces you add the AWD option. You can order a AWD with captains chairs, which is the standard option. In other words, the bench seat option "needs" AWD, if that makes sense.

That is the way it is working now. When I did the configurator last week and changed the 2nd row seat, it said the bench required 4WD and the captain's required RWD. It would not let me select captain's chairs with 4WD (or bench with RWD). Must have been a glitch in the configurator they have since fixed. Still, why no bench seat for RWD?

Definitely an odd way to package the bench seat and I do not understand why you need to order 4WD to get the bench seat. I ordered my 2026 Explorer ST with 2WD, but I wanted 2nd row captains seats, so it does not bother me. A similar gripe I have is why do I need to buy the sun and sound package to get upgraded audio? I guess I was forced to spend less money!

Whenever anyone receives your 2026 Ford Explorer ST, please post some pictures. I assume it will be identical to 2025, but I would like to see it anyway.

It is identical, nothing has really changed minus a new color, bench seating, and solid glass moonroof.

I finally saw real pictures of a 2026 Explorer ST from a dealership, and I know they are real. As we both suspected, the 2026 is virtually identical, at least appearance wise. note, you can see that the wireless charger was removed, and it does look different, this is one way to know the pictures are real. Also, I see the fixed glass roof in the pictures. The good news is that my ST is scheduled for production the first week of December!

Marsh Gray looks sick like someone got sick on these Explorers...
There, fixed that for you. That color is just bad, and I don't mean the good kind of bad.

Not my favorite color, but it looks nice. Personally I like Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, if you could not tell, but each to their own. Agate Black Metallic and Star White Metallic Tri-coat also look nice on the ST. Oddly enough, I really do not mind the Explorer Tremor in Marsh Gray, but I am not buying a Tremor, LOL.
