Hello all — looking for some guidance from those who’ve modified or optimized visibility on their Explorers.
We have a 2016 XLT (202A) and are finding the forward and side visibility challenging, especially the passenger‑side front corner when turning onto narrow roads with fast‑moving traffic. We simply feel like we are going to scrape other vehicles as we go down the road. As we have driving teenagers, safety and confidence is critical.
My family learned to drive on a Toyota Sienna, which has a very open cabin and low hood, so the Explorer’s higher hood and thicker A‑pillars are taking some adjustment. Convex mirrors help, but they still require a moment to interpret and only give so much information.
For those who’ve dealt with this:
• Have you added a front camera or integration module?
• Any aftermarket sensors or visibility aids that helped?
I’d love to hear what solutions have worked for you. Thank you!
