    Real world mpg

Maybe. I have a truck (different make) and hand calculated mileage and vehicle reported mileage always comes back within 0.2 mpg. I’ve checked it multiple times over 90k miles (track all our vehicles on fuelly) Granted I’ve only did the comparison between vehicle reported and hand calculated 3...

    Real world mpg

exactly. The mpg displayed in on screen is not accurate. Ours always reads 10% optimistic. So yeah, that 24.5 it’s showing on a highway trip is actually 22.

Tire options for the ST 21’s

I’ve contacted BFG and requested they offer the advantage t/a sport in 275/45r21, or a comparable all season. Customer support told me they’d pass the message on to the development team. Fingers crossed for a future offering.

    Looking for fuel mileage advice...

The only way to significantly improve fuel economy is to get a different vehicle/engine.

    RWD ST

I get it. My point is this vehicle (or any for that matter) serves different needs for different people. Yours = race car. In my house = family hauler that’s fun to drive (while being decent enough in the winter for the wife to drive) until the garage space clears up of kids toys and there’s...

    RWD ST

Yep. Same dude. And he’s spot on. “More often than not, real drag races happen with little notice at a traffic light. Leave your car in Drive and floor it, and the result can look very different from what 0-to-60 times suggest.” “It’s that 5-to-60—the first number you should look at, and when...

    RWD ST

I agree with this, but have a different take. 100% agree that most/all action is on the street. Which also means that I’m not likely going all out and stalling it in the ST against the car in the next lane. More likely to leave the line somewhat aggressive and if they do too, then pin it. So...

    RWD ST

Interesting. There’s a lot of variables in those times: weather, surface temp, tire temp, altitude, variability between cars, drivers, etc. Either way there doesn’t seem to be the massive (if any!) difference that some expect/claim The old TBSS posted similar times between awd/rwd if memory...

    RWD ST

Every time, unless they’re Stingers in real life apparently. The best part is the results for the ST will be known soon enough.

    RWD ST

There’s cars out there (in real life) that would dispute that. The stinger gt (a similar power plant: 3.3, v6 twin turbo) is FASTER in RWD than AWD, even to 60. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2020-kia-stinger-gt2-awd-first-test/amp/ Here’s the relevant part for you - “ One would expect...

    RWD ST

60’ def will go to the awd. But what about the rest of the race? Even by 60mph it’s prob gonna be close. Esp in stock-ish form. Obv awd is gonna take the win in the high hp builds.

    RWD ST

I don’t know that for sure, but I’ll take your word. Either way though, I suspect the decoupling occurs in the transfer case so there is still losses as the front wheels are still connected to the half shafts, front differential, etc. Whether that loss plus a couple hundred extra lbs of...

How many people warm up their Explorer ST before driving?

I don’t think you’re really going to find any experts advising you should do prolonged idle/warm up. Just people that are living by outdated information or those who are unwilling to get into a cold car in winter. This guy seems to be pretty universally accepted. Without having searched...

    RWD ST

Has anyone taken delivery of a RWD ST yet? This is a new option they’ve added for MY22. Very curious to hear a review of this vs the AWD system. Even more curious to see the performance spec comparison. Guessing a slightly weaker launch, but a higher trap speed and similar ET. Surprised...

How many people warm up their Explorer ST before driving?

Direct inject engines do not like prolonged idling at cold engine temperatures. Amongst other things it causes oil dilution. My approach is: start it, give it 30-60 seconds and start driving. No high load, high revs until everything is at operating temperature. Normal operation will get your...

Just saying hi, New Member from WV

Welcome aboard! Fellow GM (LS) guy at heart here, but also loving the ST. Only had it about 10 days, but thinking it’s a keeper (signed 3 year lease to feel it out). Enjoy the new ride!

Ford Explorer ST Vehicle Order Tracking

Ugh. Bummer. There’s likely more to the pre delivery process than that. Not saying it should take days, but they likely do some setup, update (reflash) the modules and make any other small running changes that didn’t take place at the factory.
