    Air filters

It won't hurt to get a different air filter, my point is it's not going to make an appreciable difference if you haven't done anything else. I wouldn't do an oiled filter.

    Air filters

I'm Scottish and a "bang for the buck" guy as well. The very best upgrade is a tune. Totally stock with a tune you could be looking at low to mid 12s in the quarter. If that's not enough HP, I'd follow up with the turbo upgrade. Every dyno chart I have seen on the ST shows stock turbos...

    Acceleration lag after Intercooler install

I haven't seen what type of data channels you can access as I'm not familiar with that tuner. However, depending on the placement of the boost pressure sensor (before of after the throttle body) you might not be able to discern anything from the fuel trims. If you have the right data, you...

    Acceleration lag after Intercooler install

Assuming all your fittings are correct, that Whipple IC has what- 3-4 times the volume of the factory IC? Based on past experience I would definitely expect a bit more lag in the lower RPM ranges. It's definitely hard to check for leaks at idle since you can't really build boost even if you...

    Anyone using RaceChip GTS

I would stay away from the piggy-back systems. Fooling the ecu into allowing more boost/advance via capping the MAP/MAF signal voltage only works because of tolerances that were built into the ECU to compensate for mechanical variations in wastegates, etc. If your vehicle was already towards...

Anyone have warranty trouble yet becuase of mods?

All of these comments are valid, but in my mind, if your tune grenades your engine, then your tuner did a poor job. Which is why reputable tuners don't try to be dyno queens. If you want to be a bleeding edge pioneer, more power to you but be prepared to shell out a lot of money if things go...

LOL! I was wondering if I was the only one feeling that way!

2021 Explorer King Ranch (First Look)

Where I live, 4WD is not necessary. If I could have bought my ST with only RWD, I would have. To be honest to lose 300+ lbs from the front axle is a good thing. Now that it's widely thought that the only diff between 3.0 turbos is a tune, I would have sprung for a slightly nicer interior. I...

Five years? That's extremely hard to believe.

How many miles did your Explorer ST have when you bought it?

Mine had 40 miles back in February of 2020 when I took possession. Due to Covid and limited driving, I just passed 900.

More goodies: FenFabrication Cold air intake and IC Piping

I think he's talking absolute pressure (PSIA) not gauge. However, I have a question, where are you getting the mass airflow (lbs/min) numbers?

    Vanity Plate Names

Your blue truck reminded me of a blue supra I used to see in Chicago. License plate" CYANARA" .

More goodies: FenFabrication Cold air intake and IC Piping

Glad to hear! I was worried about the boost reference on either the charge pipe side or the "after throttle plate" side. Glad you didn't see an extra 8psi. It would have been fun for awhile.... I assume you no longer need the extra spring?

More goodies: FenFabrication Cold air intake and IC Piping

Please don't take this the wrong way....You didn't post anything about the procedure you used to check the blow-off. I've followed your posts closely, but I would point out that it might not be the "vacuum pressure" as you put it- it might be overboost. You also changed the exhaust. There are...

Racing Brake is in the game.

A great question! I am curious about this too.

Do's and DONT's of Social Media Street Racing.

I was headed to my daughter's on Saturday, when I encountered one of the most bizarre occurrences of my life when some young man wanted to race. The only way I can describe this driver's behavior is to imagine he is following information from social media. For the satire-challenged, this is a...

    Driving in Slippery Mode

Having used it a couple of times, it certainly seems that "Slippery Mode" also slows down throttle tip-in and shifts. I'm not sure about the F/R AWD bias. Does anyone know if the transfer case is viscous, or wet-clutch?

    I Went to the Dyno - ZFG 93 & E50

Not to belabor the point but...assume you take your stock st to the AWD dyno. 332hp,right. Now let's bolt on the smallest, lightest wheels that will fit over the brakes (SSRs, Volks...) add in the lowest profile baloney skins you can fit and put it back on the dyno. What happens? Note, we...
