Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

If by "paying the price" you mean installing e-brake software and not putting in a 4 bolt for the .0929% who reported a break, then yes.

Introducing Thermal R&D 3-inch Exhaust system! (Sound Clips)

If their Explorer ST exhausts don't have any drone, they should state that in the product description. Some of their other exhaust systems clearly point out "no drone" or "True Helmholtz Design" (noise cancelling). In their advertisement for the ST 2.5" exhaust there is no such description. On...

I broke it on the test drive..

Of course no one wants to be involved with an engine replacement. But I had one done by a dealer some 15 years ago and it took 3 weeks. They gave me a free loaner to drive and I never had any problems with the car afterwards. It should also be noted when we say "engine replacement" it usually...

I broke it on the test drive..

Actually, you didn't break it. It broke itself. Ask them about a discount and a free extended warranty.

    Rear end damage

FORD issued the recall to prevent roll away in the statistically minuscule chance that a bolt would shear. Add a tune to the vehicle and now you've multiplied that possibility immensely. Yes. No. Maybe. The hard truth is that nobody outside of FORD really knows. It's all speculation. The...

    Rear end damage

A vehicle is designed according to what the manufacturer calculates as being safe for its intended use. So if a manufacturer decides x, y or z are no longer required to meet its original design specs, then they reserve the right to change those items at any time. Regarding the PIU's, their...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Let's do some math: 252,936 Explorers are involved in the Recall. Parts and Installation for a 4 bolt is ~$3,000. 252,936 x $3,000 = $758,808,000 That's 3/4 of a billion dollars. Not happening.

    Rear end damage

The blame rests entirely on those people who use FORD's products beyond the manufacturers intentions. To propose the notion that FORD is responsible for damage that occurs outside of their intended function belies common sense and reason. The "hiking shoe" analogy lacks support on multiple...

Rattle Diagnosed: Not what you think ...

TSB 22-2135: Fuel line contacting body/fuel tank I thought it was the flex pipe issue. Nope. Parts were ordered, Recall 22S27 was completed while I was there, and the Service staff were friendly & helpful. Two Interesting notes: 1) Fuel tank will have to be removed 2) The TSB has a very...

    Real world mpg

The main deciding factor for me was that the Durango SRT costs $17k more than an ST. The fact it only got 15 mpg combined didn't help either.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Well stop driving around with 400 lbs of lumber in it and it won't be a pig anymore.;)

    Real world mpg

Heh, at least we're not getting the Durango SRT's 15 mpg combined!

    Real world mpg

I'm in Sport mode as soon as I leave my driveway, and even with spirited driving my combined is close to 21 mpg right now with 93 octane. But that's using the car's computer, maybe I'll have to do it old school by dividing mileage by gallons at fill up.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

I knew at some point you'd be rubbing it in our faces! haha To me, the 3 bolt situation means that I'll never tune it and that I'll be part of the 99.907% of owners who've never had a problem.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

It seems like it's for FORD's "peace of mind" rather than it is for ours. Lol

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Now if they repaired a first bolt break by installing a 4 bolt subframe, that'd be diferent.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Or you could just wait to see if you're part of the 99.907% of owners who haven't experienced a break?

    Rear end damage

Falsely blaming the bolt shear on FORD after they tuned it, made tons of drag strip runs, while using a launch control "chip". That is immaturity at its highest level.

Introducing Thermal R&D 3-inch Exhaust system! (Sound Clips)

Easily the best sounding ST exhaust I've heard to date. Sad to hear the 2.5" has some drone, hope the 3" system remains free of it. Any drone whatsoever would be a 100% deal breaker for me.

Onboard video and dragy of 11.69 pass

That's what people keep telling LEO's.;)
