Broken lower control arm proof - Not spamming

Long time ago, i had a control arm fail on a car at speed, so a little bit of PTSD from that. I remember when I first became interested in the ST (around 2020-2021) I saw a few posts (on FB) about broken control arms. Cars backing out of the parking space and the arm just snapping. Stuck in...

    Emissions error

Can you DIY? It's a $72 part wholesale and about 30 mins to replace. GL3Z-9B325-B GL3Z9B325B Genuine Ford Part

    Emissions error

I'd get a Motorcraft valve. Can order one from Tasca Parts. My experience with cheapo purge valves that i installed (not my choice) on other cars is they tend to fail again pretty early.

    Running too cool. Stuck tstat?

Thanks. That was what I was looking for. Just wanted some additional confirmation that others were seeing the same thing.

    Running too cool. Stuck tstat?

Well, the pending P0128 hasn't returned. I've discovered that the temp range the car drives at differs depending on if the AC is on or off. AC off, the vehicle runs at 195-205 degrees, although it takes a little time to get up there. Runs near 205 in stop and go traffic, and 195 when...

Abusing an Explorer ST for science

    Running too cool. Stuck tstat?

Bone stock '23 ST w 26K miles I was alerted to this when I was programming something via ForScan, but it showed a pending DTC for a P0128. Accidentally erased it unfortunately. But decided to monitor coolant temps for a bit and noticed i run consistently 172-177 degrees. Only once did I...

How to avoid the brittle valve recall test?

You should see what they do to these engines when they qualify them. Granted...they scrap those when they are done. :(

    Low pressure fuel pump recall.

I think that's a separate issue in itself. Fairly widespread problem and why I start looking for a gas station once i get below 1/2 a tank.

Let's see those roof racks and cargo boxes (Thule)!

I can totally see that. As soon as I don't need the box up top for summer, i plan to take off my crossbars. But yeah, they are the perfect spot for life jackets, lake floats, beach toys, wet towels, etc up in the box. That's what I mostly used mine for.

81 days at dealer for our 21 ExpST... Well crap, it needs to go back.

Unfortunately sounds like they were just checking off a box. I imagine performing the recall allows them to get paid from Ford? If that’s the case, they “performed the recall test” as an excuse to put some $$$ in their pocket regardless of the circumstances didn’t justify it. I’d be livid.

    Fluid Change Conundrum

Those fluids (other than oil change) are on my list to get done on my '23 at some point between 30-40K miles, along with brake fluid. I'll be DIY however. I'm at 24K so i have a little time.

2026 Ford Explorer Replaces Vista Roof With Fixed Glass Option

Actually. Looking through the order sheet from the other thread, while it lists the new fixed glass roof as an option, it doesn't necessarily say the sunroof-equipped vista roof option has been deleted. EXTERIOR  New — Panoramic Fixed Glass Roof with Power Shade (43H) optional on all series ●...

    2026 Order banks open!

What's interesting is that the order sheet says the Fix glass roof was added new for '26, but doesn't say the vista-style sunroof was deleted. EXTERIOR  New — Panoramic Fixed Glass Roof with Power Shade (43H) optional on all series ● Changed — None ● Deleted — None I don't see any new...

Let's see those roof racks and cargo boxes (Thule)!

Trip done. I ended up overloading the box slightly. Box and bars were ~55lbs. I think i loaded to around 100 pounds, so 25 pounds over the limit. TBH I didn't really notice it. Vehicle was stable. I took some sweeping turns and it stayed relatively flat. Now, i didn't perform any...

    CLOSED: 2025 Ford ST-Line - Inspection Problem?

If it's anything like my state inspection they connect the machine into the OBD2 port which looks for Powertrain DTC's and checks to see if the emissions monitors are complete. That's why i asked if a standard OBD2 code reader would connect as many have a "state OBD check" function that will...

    2026 Order banks open!

No more 3.0L on the platinum? That's an interesting decision there. So essentially Ford killed off the Limited trim level by creating an available 2.3L Platinum trim, and then just killed off the 3.0 Plat? Also one of the articles i read mentioned different available wheels. Interested to...
