    Whipple Install

Wheels off gets you better access to the 2x 10mm fender bolts on each side. A panel popper tool helps. Torx bit for the air sensor. Watch the Fat Guy Builds video a few times before you do the install, then keep it handy and pause the vid as you do the install. Its an easy install, just...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

a LOT of goodness today. First, tested some ethanol that's 5min from me. e85 measured 85% on the not-very-calibrated measuring device. 93 measured between 5 and 10%. I pumped a gallon of each so I just mixed them together and expected ~45%, which is what I'm seeing here. Next, Design Labs...

aFe Intake -vs- Whipple Intercooler -vs- Downpipe

90% of the reason I ordered the Thermal before I did DPs is because of the F*#%king flex section rattle! That and I don't want to wait for the welds on the OEM center resonator to fail. DPs are coming though! Problem is I'm a DIY kinda guy and install sounds like a bitch. But yeah, HFCs...

    What can explorer st handle

All the info you need is in this forum and a trip down the Rabbit Hole away. Mid 11s on stock block and internals with bolt-ons and a tune. Built transmission would be a plus.

aFe Intake -vs- Whipple Intercooler -vs- Downpipe

Whipple first, without a doubt. Consistent lower IATs in all scenarios and conditions will benefit your ST in both performance and reliability. IMO its the perfect "starter" mod to build upon, or if you aren't really looking to do anything else.

    SCT tuner

A few things here: 1. 15 HP is peak HP gain. The more important value is "area under the curve". Overlay the stock vs. tuned charts. You may have >15hp gains throughout the powerband, but max HP is +15. This goes for torque as well. 2. Everything I've researched says ZFG's transmission...

And the A$$hole of the week award goes to....

Is that mulch? Yeah, def a no-no. Left-Laners, Parking-Lot-Cutter-Acrossers, and Litterers all suck. Don't be a sucky person.

Need some opinions on Burger Tuning JB4 vs Racechip GTS

The SCT X4 is simply the tool, not the tune. If you are buying an SCT X4 that is pre-loaded with a tune I would suggest finding out who provided the tune and what has been changed. Are they revising the transmission shifting? If you are looking for a "set it and forget about it" type of...

Love to see how this turns out! you will def need a shotgun and K9 as well. I need this interior for my dogs! F150 is my dog hauler though.

The Thermal R&D cat back exhaust PREMIER!

I think the biggest reason to get the Thermal mid pipes, aside from the larger diameter, is the higher quality flex sections. My OEM flex sections rattle pretty bad, and Ford’s fix is a band clamp that may or may not work. Do it……do it.

Need some opinions on Burger Tuning JB4 vs Racechip GTS

This is how you start a war as everyone seems to back the tune they currently run. Search through this sub-forum. There are a number of tuners with real world data posted here. ZFG, Palm Beach Dyno, Livernois (LMS), Gearhead, and a few others. I will say that I currently have the LMS Stage...

    Ford Performance Tune

Any answer you get from Ford will be a canned statement they are being told to communicate. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. The ST is the "tuned" version of the 3.0TT.

    Whipple IC coolant volume

not sure if this is a sarcastic post or not, but I'll treat it as OP is serious. The intercooler (or IC) is an air-to-air heat exchanger (or HX). Your radiator is a water-to-air HX in which ambient air flows over the core and pulls heat from the water/glycol mix. The hot, pressurized air (or...

The Thermal R&D cat back exhaust PREMIER!

no, you do not “need” a tune for a cat-back exhaust system.

Need some opinions on Burger Tuning JB4 vs Racechip GTS

surely they have dyno results to back up their claims........... It's your money. Spend it however you want. there are plenty of threads and comments on this forum and other sites (youtube)for ZFG, PBD, Gearhead, and Livernois. Maybe a few others as well. My advice is to stick with one of...

    Road trip planning: MPG

I hear ya. If you do find some 93 along I44 let me know! I'm from Tulsa and we visit family there a few times a year. Never had to "search" for 93 along the way until now.

    Road trip planning: MPG

Just run 91 and go easy-ish. Another option is 91 with about a gallon of e85. I wouldn’t stress too much about this. I want to say the Shell stations in Tulsa have 93, same with the Shell stations along I44 between Tulsa and STL. Same with the Kum and Go spots.
