    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

I'm betting that's a rounding error from a marketing department in order to make something seem better. Think about the number of teeth on the same size ring gear and the teeth needed on the same sized pinion to make that difference. Possible, but very unlikely. But, we'll soon have more info...

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

Had to do a bit of searching, but found it in ford 2022 towing specs- listed all the diffs and towing amounts. I edited out the towing since it wasn't relevant.

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

No need to be so prickly about it! At this point we're making educated guesses. Are there any other 3.58 gear ratios available in the smaller diff? If not, are you suggesting that not only did Ford commission a Torsen LSD for the smaller diff, but they also decided to make a one-off...

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

I think the telling point is the 3.58 ratio. While I'm no expert on ring/pinion diffs, there is a definite geometry relating to gear ratios available from different sized ring gears. Since the timberline has the 3.58, I'm making an educated guess it's the 8.8 diff and therefore interchangeable.

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

Very interesting info, thanks for that! So, it would be pretty easy to find that sticker on a timberline to see if it has the 8.8.

Abusing an Explorer ST for science

I can't think of anything less satisfying than arguing over the internet with a complete stranger to see who gets the last word. It's never going to happen! So please, everyone who wants to fight, go start your own thread. Please?

All those "clowns" are entitled to their opinion, just as you are. You seem to be the one with hurt feelings.

    Transmission Issues

In a case like yours, you had a perfectly good trans, then it failed. After replacement it quickly failed again. In these type of circumstances, it'd behoove your dealer to look for something else- like the trans control unit. Another thing to consider- did they follow any type of electronic...

2021 Ford Explorer, Aviator Recalled Over Rear Suspension Module Issue

There is nothing in that article to suggest it's a 3-bolt vs 4-bolt subframe issue. It specifically affects "ride height, handling and braking". None of those would be affected by the subframe issue. Nor does it single out the "ST" model.

Come on, it's just in fun. If you can't take a bit of stick on a public forum, you should reconsider what you post!

How about a button to automatically put it in Drive? Sucks to have to turn that knob three clicks.

    Transmission slip

I have experienced this a couple of times. Both were when I forgot the e-brake was on. Have you checked that possibility?
