Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I think Ford nailed it at the price point and I'm a GM guy. Nice sporty looks with really decent stock pickup for a vehicle it's size. If I were still towing a track car around I would not have gotten an Explorer. It does have a cheaper feel in the body like when you close a door. Hoping the...

NEW Product Alert! The AWR Racing rear diff mount

I've got a Diffy Stiffy not installed yet. But I also have a subframe on order. I'd say this one definitely looks beefier than the Fenfab. It also doesn't look like it has slots on the diff plate. I worry the slots in the diffy stiffy could allow movement under duress. If I were choosing...

13" sub in factory location and rest of stereo upgrade

Here's a pic of the trim panel sitting on a pile of junk. Also included a pic with the new amp rack design. Air will be coming in and out the two panels left and right of center. Of course I ran out of ground wire by about 5 inches.

If you ever want to do some work yourself you are welcome to use my lift in Wood Dale. I've got a thermal exhaust with downpipes, lowering springs, sway bar, Intercooler, and some other stuff sitting in boxes waiting for me to have time.

    Explorer ST exhaust

That's lame. I get it but it's lame. You are putting a better aftermarket part on. The only way I could see them justifying voiding your drivetrain warranty is if there was a leak or something defective in the Whipple that caused a problem. It is basically a non-moving box. If you put a 170...

    Explorer ST exhaust

As others mentioned, only reason to upgrade exhaust is sound. Quite a few running big HP through stock exhaust. I went with Thermal (still sitting in boxes) because I loved the sound.

    MrBoom_5.0 build

Ditto, really like the look. I'm almost ready to just send @MrBoom_5.0 a bucket of cash and have his business do it. I KNOW I don't have the patience to do what he is doing.

13" sub in factory location and rest of stereo upgrade

Slowly but surely. The panel is not great but not horrible either. I will take a pic later. I have trimmed the panel to within an inch of final trim. The cutout pretty much goes from the bottom of the trim panel to as high as you can go before you get into the angle towards the window. Once...

Vehicle Status Update - bit of reading

I understand your pain. Before my Explorer, my last Ford was a 1996 Winstar. That thing was such a POS. Finally blew head gaskets at 37K and they refused to cover anything even though they had a head gasket recall up to 95. Swore i would never buy another Ford. Having said that, I have been...

    10r60 transmission pan upgrade

Cool, let us know how it goes. With the 10R60 I'll take any insurance I can get to keep it together.

    10r60 transmission pan upgrade

So 10R80 and 10R60 share pan design? That would be a great option if true. More fluid is never a bad thing either.

13" sub in factory location and rest of stereo upgrade

Finished the sub and enclosure tonight. Started working on the enclosed amp rack for the bottom of the spare tire well. Haven't quite figured out the ducting yet but that has always been my mode. What fun would it be if I designed it all on CAD and just cut the pieces lol. My way I can do...

Premium Gas and Full Synthetic Oil..

I don't even take the free oil changes with new cars. I do all maintenance myself. Had a quick lube forget to put the drain plug back in. Engine seized shortly thereafter. Don't trust them to do the job right. I learned how to rebuild everything on my 66 Mustang including rear end...

I used Speed for my CTS-V. I did blow the motor at Road America so there is that lol. Tom took good care of me I always felt. Not much in the ecoboost around. I use Adam at ZFG for the tune and I do all my work myself. Always have but I'm getting too old for it sometimes. I to have a nice...

BEWARE: Driveshaft kaboom from emergency auto-brake

$1200. Still need to find the bolt. I've spent quite a bit of cash on upgrades so in the grand scheme of things it was just more. May not make a difference but I've got mine tuned already with other upgrades in the near future and I just didn't feel like taking any chances especially...

I just ordered the correct subframe for insurance.
