Electrical burning smell, now no power

spike5150, I am not a very good electrical troublehsooter but you're right to look at the fuses. The Owner's Manual should have a map of fuses so you can identify what circuit, if any, has been affected. Look for any signs (soot or melted insulaiton) at the battery and alternator. Check...

Autostop Eliminator Causing faults on 2025

Disconnected battery, disconnected ASE, reconnected stock harness (no ASE), and the alert cleared. Not a surprise but confirms the alert is not related to the braking system. Tomorrow, will plug in the ASE again and be alert for the alert.

Autostop Eliminator Causing faults on 2025

ChuckD23, That will be my ultimate option if conventional troubleshooting doesn't work. I don't have Forscan yet but it seems to be a necessary tool for getting all the 'techie options' set just right on the ST. Thanks for the reply. (y)

Autostop Eliminator Causing faults on 2025

Update: Logged into Ford.com and saw about the same stuff reported about the ST as is shown in the phone Ford app. No software updates are available (green checkmark is displayed) and a message like "no updates over the past 90 days" is shown on the screen. The only thing I did today that...

Autostop Eliminator Causing faults on 2025

ExplorerSTLine, Thanks kindly! The VIN is in my phone app but I have been lax about going to the Ford site (through the laptop). Phone app shows the update schedule but no details. I'll get to work on the Ford account and see if that helps. I appreciate the info. Thank you very much...

Autostop Eliminator Causing faults on 2025

Combatvet, Thanks for the feedback. No "hill assist not available" alerts? That's the performance I was expecting, lol, but mine must have a gremlin. If I can't clear this alert with another battery disconnect (adding a few brake pedal presses), I will unplug the ASE, plug in the stock...

Autostop Eliminator Causing faults on 2025

Need a little help, please. Installed an ASE in our 2026 ST and it works well. But, the "Hill Assist Not Active" message has popped up twice. I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and that cleared the first message. Yesterday, the message popped up so I disconnected the batter for 60...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

SugarMouth, My, my, those are some huge meats. Beware of Vette owners lurking around your garage in the wee hours of the morning. What sort of offset is needed to make those fit with no rubbing? What wheels are you planning to get (or have gotten)? Your ST is going to look mighty fine...

    Does anybody keep OEM springs?

Thanks, fellas, for the good advice. I was fighting my inner packrat but there is good justification for keeping the springs (and the rear sway bar, lol). [cheers]

    Does anybody keep OEM springs?

2020FordRaptor, Thank you for the reply. I guess stock springs are best for resale/trade - the new owner may want more utility out of their SUV. But a lowered ST looks so good... I'll tuck the springs away. Thanks for the nudging me out of my Mustang mode of thinking about modifications. :)

    Does anybody keep OEM springs?

Searched but did not find an answer so my question is: is there any reason to keep the OEM springs? Thanks in advance for the advice. (y)

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Got the differential bushing insert bolt torqued to 150 ft-lb. A job worth doing .... Got the Steeda transmission support insert installed. Followed the Steeda video and did not need to drop the transmission support bracket. Did have to trim thin rubber casting webs to open the holes in the...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Got a couple of first mods done today. Installed the JXB differential bushing insert and the DX differential support brace. Tomorrow looks good to install the Steeda trans mount insert and the ZL1 Addons rock guards. The differential bushing insert bolt is a bit of a bear to get torqued to...

Wafer Tech, Thank you very kindly. That link was very helpful. I will keep the part as a souvenir, of course.
