    Broken lumbar bucket!!!

Hey, he corrected "lumber" to "lumbar" in his thread! Now it makes much more sense!

    Fair enough.

Loaded my 5* 93 tune today. Dragy times

I posted some information which may not have reflected the actual strategy of the ecu, but it certainly wasn't information that was patently wrong. I even posted the disclaimer: I remember a post ZFG made on this very subject a while back, try searching his posts to find it- as I remember he...

Loaded my 5* 93 tune today. Dragy times

I do not have experience with the ECU on this model, so you're right, I'm probably out of date! So, just for grins, I could actually run say an e30 tune with no tuning on the factory ECU and see performance improvements? It would actually add boost and timing and enrichment? Seems to be what...

Loaded my 5* 93 tune today. Dragy times

Think about an 87 vs 93 tune. At WOT, both are using approx the same amount of injector, but the timing and boost amounts would be different. So, if you have an 87 tune (for example), the 93 wouldn't add anything, but if you're running a 93 tune and use 87, then hopefully the knock sensors...

    Finally Got Mine

Do a search on FENG (fake engine noise generator) on this site. IIRC, there are forscan settings that can turn it off.

What Breaks at what power levels?

I'm curious about that too. Return from the chain tensioners? I'm sure zfg will let us know.

What Breaks at what power levels?

So, are are saying the pan is far enough below the webbing that the baffling provided is insufficient? I certainly get that due to the front end lift and g force, there would be much more effect on oil flowing away from the pickup. As a follow up, do I understand that the oil pump is pretty...

What Breaks at what power levels?

After giving it some thought, I'm thinking the next possible culprit would be a volume issue. Hear me out, in the area directly around the pickup between the webs and assuming the oil level is below the crank, it certainly seems that there isn't room for more than (maybe) a quart or less of oil...

What Breaks at what power levels?

Interesting. It would certainly appear that the cross webbing would do an adequate job of baffling the oil movement while the "tray" would allow adequate clearance to drain back to the pump. So much for the injection molding casting being the source of the baffling. But seeing this, I don't...

What Breaks at what power levels?

Thanks for sharing those pics with us, I'm looking forward to seeing more! In relation to your post on oil starvation at launch. Could you please post pics of the pan, pump, and pickup? From what I have read, the variable oil pump is driven off the front of the crank. Which would suggest the...

What Breaks at what power levels?

You can bet there's some engineering leeway built into the torque spec. And it's a static measure, so if you locked the output shaft in a vise (for example), and started twisting the input shaft with a really, really long torque wrench, theoretically something would go "pop". But that's not a...

What Breaks at what power levels?

I don't know, but direct me to the pics and I'll look. In a v6, because of the shortness of the crank, you just don't see them break unless there was catastrophic failure elsewhere. The last think I'd do is run out to Callies to have them build me a billet version just because I saw something...

What Breaks at what power levels?

@UpinBst Probably at this stage, no one can truly answer your questions. But, by the time it's been out a few years, like every other enthusiast site, you'll get 100 different opinions for every failure! In my mind, the engine is definitely if not state of the art, at least close, and Ford has...

What Breaks at what power levels?

I think if you look at 3 row suvs in the same category, you won't see much different in terms of engine development or drivetrains. Land Rover, Audi SQ7, BMW X7, MB GLS, Durango Hellcat. Most of these start (or need to optioned enginewise) to beat the ST and are $25k to $75k more (and yes...

What Breaks at what power levels?

How long before we see an aftermarket carrier with dual high-durometer bushings address the issue? Hint, hint. Edit so as not to extend this about differential probs, since there are two other threads on this matter. If you remember back to pre-pandemic on the 2020s, Ford was selling way more...

What Breaks at what power levels?

And, just for grins, take a look at LokiWolf et al, putting down 500 lb/ft of torque on 93. If we had enough turbo (and other V/E improvements) to maintain that type of airflow at 7000 rpm we could estimate 500*7000/5252 or 666 hp on 93 pump gas!

What Breaks at what power levels?

A couple of things- the ST does have (info from interweb) a forged crank, forged rods, and piston squirters. @ZFGracing does have a thread on here about the 3.0 piston where he verifies the piston squirters. He considers the 3.0 piston as better than the Ford 2.7 which according to him had pin...

What Breaks at what power levels?

Do my five midget grandkids count? LOL, I'm just pointing out that I'd pick something that had a lot more cubic inches, forged internals, and a couple more cylinders.

What Breaks at what power levels?

You hear crickets since for the majority of people buying a 3 row SUV, a mid-hi 13s 1/4 mile with good handling is enough. A very small percentage have gone ahead and done a tune- which is enough for mid-hi 12s with no other mods. As far as I know, only a handful of people have actually pushed...
