    Ebay splash guard review

You're certainly right that you'd need a higher pressure area to deal with dirt problems, but when you post "people claimed it eliminated the dust build up". I'm not sure what you meant by "it". The problem with the ST (and most other SUVs) is the sharp transition of 70-90 degrees from the side...

    Ebay splash guard review

It's about aerodynamics. To make it simple, the rear of the vehicle is a low pressure zone. All air passing over the sides and top are going to slow down at that transition and start to swirl- depositing whatever dust is tagging along on the back panels. You'd need some aero help in some form...

Another incredibly informative post. I know that I along with others look forward to to your input.

Ford Explorer ST Vehicle Order Tracking

There's a lot of bitching about the subframe. It's overblown. If you tune your vehicle and blow up the diff, then I'm sorry, in my mind you added another 100 hp to your car and expect Ford should just cover it? Really? If you don't tune it, how many have broken? Probably none. And I'm sick...

    2021 Vs 2022

It has an open front differential, just like the ST. So no, both front wheels will not spin. However, it does have the Torsen rear, so you see both rear wheels spinning. And the guy in the video- moron.

    Brake applied power reduced

That message shows up if you use the brake while still engaging the accelerator. It could be an anomaly, but you can look this up on the internet in various Ford forums and view the reason. Does your wife use her left foot to brake? Does she have abnormally sized feet? If not, it could also...

Focal, Mosconi, Illusion and Helix build

When I saw the previous pic with the wires exposed to the back, I thought "What an incredible job!" My second thought was, "Next, he's going to hide those wires" Although sometimes perfection is the foe of the good, I am extremely impressed!

    2021 Vs 2022

What drive mode are you in? Mine definitely fluctuates depending on drive mode and gear (seems to always be AWD in first), but definitely fluctuates. But who knows whether that display is actually showing true engagement?

    2021 Vs 2022

The transfer case has a mainshaft driven directly from the output shaft of the trans to the rear driveshaft. A chain in the transfer case routes power to the clutch pack. All power is always routed to the rear directly with the ability to engage the clutch pack to drive the front.

    2021 Vs 2022

Here are the facts- the drivetrain power is routed directly to the open differential rear. That's what a rear-based system is all about. A wet multiplate clutch in the transfer case engaged by the computer directs power to the front diff which is also open. Depending on drive mode and detected...

    Reconsidering Explorer ST

Took a trip to Florida with the family last year. Kids had a three wheel stroller, we had to disassemble it, but then, we were also hauling luggage for the 6 of us. Like any packing, you'd have to try for yourself.

If you use the pinch welds to jack where do you place the stands?

That is for sure! I remember working in my dad's gravel driveway when I was about 17 putting headers and exhaust on my car. I used a normal jack, concrete blocks and some 2x4s to support the front about a foot. You had to install the headers from underneath the vehicle and tilt them to fit...

What did you use to get that mild "pebbled" look?

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

Umm, no. But the ST with an even-firing bank V6 and turbos connected directly to the head is a case of two turbos being better than one BASED ON the manufacturer's goals. If you're at all interested, you should be thinking about the characteristic of a V6, why the exhaust manifolds don't look...

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

No doubt that since he's moved to larger turbos (both turbine and compressor) he'll make more horsepower. And it's some great fabrication but two turbos are NOT better than one (except in certain cases). I'm sure this comment will draw a major amount of criticism. So, I'll open a new thread...

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

The fact is that the best superchargers: Eaton TVS or Whipple/Lysholm will not make more power than a properly sized turbo since the effective pressure ratios (PR) are generally less than 2.5 (about 22 psi). A centrifugal compressor can make way more boost than that. As far as compressor...

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

Turbos make more power and are easily tunable. Not to mention the incredible amount of work to try to mount a blower. And as far as a centrifugal blower- it's basically a turbo compressor driven by a belt and is NOT linear like a PD supercharger. There is absolutely no reason to move to a...

should an American buy. Canadian imported ST?

The salt vs sand has to do with temperature. Salt isn't effective at very low temps. I spent two years in Grand Forks, ND. One winter it stayed below 0 degrees for nearly a month. They only used sand then. Growing up in mid Michigan, which normally isn't as cold as that, they only used salt.

should an American buy. Canadian imported ST?

They're all built in the same place. A couple of hints: 1. Multiply all MPH by .62 unless you want to feel like you're going faster. 2. Multiply temps by 1.8 and then add 32. 3. Drop "Eh" from all warnings- for example when it says "Oil Change Required, Eh?", Just ignore the "Eh". 4. If you're...
