Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

My last words on this subject- take a look at the pics of the isolators on the 1 bolt vs 2 bolts. But hey, you "know it's not". But, you are absolutely entitled to your position. Sell that piece of shit immediately and buy something else since they're obviously trying to rip you off to save a...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Your anecdotal evidence is is not proof. Have you even thought about this critically? If you had, you would see that not only did they "leave the assembly line without a 4th bolt like ford was designed to have", you'd have done enough research to be taken seriously. Did you notice that the...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

I know what I say causes a lot of emotion, but why, given the limited info released would leave you to believe that Ford f'd up? And you "hope this costs them a lot"? Perhaps they should just go out of business because some supplier didn't heat treat bolts correctly? Perhaps even though you...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

How do you know that? Did you see the pics of that "brace"? It probably moved 2". I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but a few yards of duct tape (placed appropriately) would probably have been just as effective. Truly, the AWR brace is much better, although I'd like to see a third...

Video of Diff Bolt Failure and Fords Response.

And, other than anecdotal, self-serving comments have you seen non-modded cars fail? I mean really? I'm not suggesting that due to supplier issues, cost, or badly heat-treated bolts that perhaps there might be a problem, but this issue is so overblown on this forum as to be ludicrous. If you...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Right- the poster added over 100 lb/ft of torque via tuning and mods and broke the bolt at the dragstrip. Then bitched because Ford fixed it- for free. What a victim!

Video of Diff Bolt Failure and Fords Response.

It isn't about being covered by a recall- which it wasn't at the time. Your own words convict you. You admit to getting angry at a service rep who is justifiably concerned about your mods. I guess you could have shown him the videos of your drag racing that you showed us. You didn't though...

Video of Diff Bolt Failure and Fords Response.

Let's see, you tune the car, add downpipes and exhaust and who knows what else. You boast on this forum on your trips to the dragstrip multiple times. Then, when something breaks you bitch and moan about Ford not covering this under warranty. You even lie about being tuned and how it happened...

Ford Explorer ST BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel

The average person just believes whatever a vendor says. As an engineer and entrepreneur I try to give the vendor the benefit of the doubt. UNLESS they insult my intelligence and that of the people they're trying to part from their money. You obviously have the common sense to smell the...

Ford Explorer ST BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel

Just to follow up on this, please consider this from the vendor's website: HOW IT WORKS As a car moves through the air, the air pressure directly in front of the bumper increases with the square of speed. So, let's just state the obvious from this unbelievable comment. Let's just assume that...

Ford Explorer ST BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel

There were posts on this when it was in prototype stage. You can read my comments from an older thread, but my point is it's is not RAM-AIR. The effects of a forward facing scoop are negligible at less than 150 mph. So tests showing 2-4 gear pulls are more than a little suspect regardless of...

Mishimoto Wants your Input about Intakes!

And how would this be any different from the Afe intake? Shouldn't you finish up the intercooler kit first?

Ford Explorer ST Vehicle Order Tracking

I vote we change the name of this thread to "Vent, Bitch, Whine and Moan". I have never seen a thread with so many hand-wringing, pearl-clutching bitchers in my life. Buy an ST and the engine or trans blows, I feel for you. That's different than self-absorbed, seemingly powerless people who...

    California cats

First of all, you cannot under any circumstances remove functioning emissions devices in California. If you're thinking about a business model, do you have any idea what it would take to get a CARB EO# for a replacement catalytic converter? I doubt it's even possible. There are already at...

FS 2022 ST in Rapid Red 401A

IIRC @MattJ716 works for a Ford dealership. If this is a vehicle available on the lot, he should make this more clear, and it's up to the moderator to decide if it's OK.

Limits of stock turbos HP wise

I have to apologize as I underestimated the stock lbs/min mass airflow. Found an error in my spreadsheet (fat finger typing) after I looked at it causing a difference of about 12% or 6 lbs/min. Doh. So, the actual lbs/min estimate would be 51-56 lbs/min of airflow. This does NOT change the...

Limits of stock turbos HP wise

The only Dragy times I've seen under 11.8 on stock turbos was with an upgraded fuel system. Not saying it can't be done- 50 lbs/min (my max estimate) on the stock turbos on a higher than 50% ethanol mixture could definitely do that but the shaft speed on those turbos would be scary. I wouldn't...

Limits of stock turbos HP wise

What kind of supporting mods? I only ask because ethanol is definitely forgiving when it comes to running way to the right on the compressor efficiency curve. But that doesn't mean it's safe or effective long-term. I'm not on the FB forums, but have certainly heard anecdotal evidence of ZFG...

What is missing on the 2022 ST from factory

If that's the case, you're a prime candidate for extensive differential support failure. Look into the AWR brace for a little extra protection.
