Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

I have my amp turn on wired into an unused circuit under the dash that is only powered while the ST is running. As soon as I hit the stop button, the amp turns off. I'm not using a Nav-TV yet.

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

Called the dealership yesterday after work since they didn't call me on Friday. Service manager said the tech thought it was a loose battery connection. I know that wasn't the case because I checked all of that when I installed my amp wiring. The tow truck driver also checked. The battery tested...

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

From Miriam Webster: Definition of catastrophe 1: a momentous tragic event ranging from extreme misfortune to utter overthrow or ruin. 2: utter failure. I'd say "catastrophic" defines exactly what happened in my particular circumstance. I don't know how you could say it's "very misleading".

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

That sounds like best case scenario, for sure. Unfortunately, I'm back in Golden, 4 hours away and I have to be at work all week. I wish it happened closer to home!

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

Yuuup. A week after it was towed there. Small town, busy dealership I guess. Luckily I have a truck and motorcycles to ride.

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

Not sudden. Lights started coming on and I had to find a safe place to pull over. Drove about 5 miles after the lights started coming on. Just hill decent control, power steering and hill start waring lights came on. Then the rest of the issues popped up 1 at a time over those 5 or so miles...

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

No loose connections on the battery. I was able to verify that.

Terrible weekend with catastrophic ST failure

Took my family to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska this weekend which is 4 hours from my home in Golden and happened to be 104 degrees. Made it just to the entrance of the Lake and every damn light came on. Hill Decent Control, ABS, Service Changing system, Hill start control, service engine, power...

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Sorry for the late reply. I used a metal cutting blade on a reciprocating saw after I measured and wrapped blue painters tape exactly where I wanted to cut.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

I'm sure it can be done. I have ramps which made my life much easier. Also, I used some WD-40 inside the flares to help them slip on a little easier.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

The flare on the slip on side of the gibson is about two inches deep, so plenty of tolerance. I would cut on the conservative side and trim off more if needed. The instructions have a pic that isn't great where it shows the measurement for the cut coming from the bend but there is a lot left to...

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Yes, just slips on. Didn’t take me more than an hour. I did have a brass mallet to help with the install, as the slip on side of the Gibson is tight and did need a bit of strong-arm manipulation.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

I'm happy with it aside from the stainless tips having several visual defects. I'll probably change those out after a while. You get what you pay for!

Here’s a short clip of a cold start with the Gibson:

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

I ordered mine on the 21st and it was delivered on the 26th. I mentioned before that I ordered stainless tips. If you ordered Black tips, like the majority of people, I'm guessing there is heavier demand and there may be supply issues. That being said, I installed mine on Thursday last week but...

    Tuning for dummies

To my knowledge that is incorrect. 1 tune applies to all the drive modes. The drive modes only effect throttle position in relation to the peddle and change up traction and shifting. In order to change tunes, you'd just keep your RTD or whatever tuner you have in the car and load the specific...

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Mine was just delivered. I'll try to get it installed this week and post results.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Delivering to Golden, CO. I did order stainless tips. Did you order black? It may be that most people are ordering black, creating an inventory issue.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works
