Ford Explorer ST Vehicle Order Tracking

My order ( 09/01/2021 ) switched to "In Production" today. Delivery date is still TBD.
But the Window sticker is available now
So will these orders get built and parked waiting for final parts ?
Or will they likely going to complete the build and ship them ?
Is this the first run of 2022 explorers ?

I am starting to think I might have it by early December. Last I heard the build day was November 16.

Last I talked to my dealer, I was also scheduled for 11/16, but my window sticker showed up today.

That being said, there is a possibility our vehicles could sit in a lot waiting to be loaded on a rail car to be shipped. Then off loaded at a major hub and sit in another lot waiting to be trucked to the dealers for final new car prep and delivery.

My window sticker had CONVOY on it so it’s being transported via truck. Not train. But good info, thanks!

Mine also says convoy, so I guess I'm coming by truck. Since we are the same dealer they may end up on the truck together.

Supposedly the window sticker has the build date but the internet seems to disagree on which. Mine as 2 dates on it, at the bottom after special order there is a date. 11/9 for me. There is also the blend line on the top, that some say the last 6 digits of that is the build date. 11/17 on mine... So who knows.. I'm just happy to see updates.

Mine is 11/16 (top) and 11/09 (bottom).
dunno what those mean but also am thinking all this is a good sign!

I received my basic confirmation email from Ford on October 18th but haven't heard a peep since.

The window sticker is working today, no email. Has a blend date of 11/21 and a print date 11/11(Bottom)
What is interesting it has CONVOY on it also which is weird because the dealer said all their new vehicles come via rail then trucked to their location.

So the best answer i see on the interwebz is Convoy vs Rail only indicates how it leaves the plant. Evidently some Ford plants have rail yards at the plant. Convoy just means its leaving the plant on a truck, Rail indicates goes from the plant directly onto the train.

That said, seems like its very possible for a vehicle to leave the plant on a truck, get loaded onto a train, then "last mile" delivery to the dealer again by truck.

Whatever your dealer says it probably right, seems like depending on how far you are from the plant, it may be trucked straight from the plant to the dealer. In our case, the drive from factory to dealer is only 9 hours, and looks like most of it is a pretty easy ride on major interstates... so we might get lucky and be all truck.. but its almost 600 miles... so if they have a radius for what they will truck, we may be outta luck.

The sheer amount of volume they produce daily makes rail the most efficient way to move mass quantities to major hubs closer for distribution. I wouldn't be surprised if all the ones going to your dealer are railed out there either. It's simple logistics and probably more economical that way depending on the volume that needs to be moved at that time. Then again with all the bottle necks in the supply chain coupled with driver shortages its probably anyone's guess

Duh, yeah don't know why I had Detroit stuck in my head instead of Chicago, but yeah couple hours longer and more mileage. That combined with the shortage of truckers would definitely make rail delivery much more realistic. Slower but more realistic. I don't know what the rail hub in the area is though.
