I run the AEM dry filters. They definitely allow more airflow (and yes, a bit more dirt), but I’m not expecting horsepower gains or mpg from them. These engines already pick up close to 100 HP from a simple tune — exhausts and CAIs are basically wasted money under normal driving conditions. I’ve seen a few dyno tests on YouTube where exhausts gave a couple of dyno horsepower, but CAIs are all over the place and generally not worth it these days (if you are just getting a tune).
I keep an eye on any increased dirt by checking it through UOA. Full disclosure, I have an exhaust, but it was done for sound, not for drag racing.
