Finally got around to installing the skid plate. Easy job while simultaneously a huge pain in the ass.

Was it the size that made it a pain?
im thinking about getting the timberline one or HSF

While the skid plate is a little heavy and unwieldy, it mostly had to do with not being able to fit under the vehicle. I could only get under from the front and had to fully extend one arm to hold the skid plate up while starting the threads on the bolts towards the front. Even with the Explorer on ramps (and stock height) my chest was a few inches from the underside so it was pretty cramped, luckily I'm also tall so I have a long reach. Also, the threaded holes in the trans mount were so gunked up I could not get the threads started on those bolts. I had to grab a 9mm bore brush and clean those threads out. Once all the bolts were started, it was easy after that.

Shit like this makes me rethink things like "if I ever do exhaust, I'll install it myself" :cautious:

Thanks, sounds like I should have my son help when I get around to it.
Agreed! it’s nice to do stuff yourself…to a point, then it’s time to have someone else

I installed the full-screen mod this morning. It took me a few tries but I finally figured it out. They say to wait until you see it "Indexting" to restart but I kept getting an error message. It takes about 8-10 seconds from the time you press the Vol/Next buttons until it actually reboots. That's too late. So, as soon as I saw it say it detected the USB, I hit the buttons to reboot and it worked. It's so much nicer with the full screen!

Thanks! They’re 22x10.5 with 38mm offset. Tires are 285 40 22 And I’m lowered on eibach springs. Rides great with no rubbing at full lock forward and reverse.
Why are you looking to get rid of them so quick?

ZFG 93 tune ordered
Explorer badge removed, prefer a cleaner look and it didn’t disappoint. Blow dryer, fishing line, goo gone, microfiber cloth, and old credit card made quick work. Was done in about 1hr.

Any bugs with the full screen that you've noticed these last 10 days? I heard something about delayed responses.

Yes. It’s sporadic though. Sometimes it works fine but other times it takes a few seconds to respond. Not a long enough to make it a deal-breaker. Having the full screen makes it worth it IMO.

I finally got around to installing the CVFab cold side pipe & TurboSmart GenV RacePort BOV. I can't hear it over the exhaust, but I'm sure its doing something.

Have you ensured that it is working visually, could be a spring strength tuning issue. Or maybe it's just not loud enough. My HKS SQV4 makes a satisfying whistle-whoosh even over my 3" thermal w/dp's.

Yep, I can see that it is working correctly, it's just not loud and I'm ok with that.

Always hated the chrome strips on either side of the console... when the sun is out is reflects in my eyes so took care of the chrome with some carbon wrap. I also tried to install my FenFab Cold and Hot side pipes but think I got the wrong hot pipes as there is no place to put the stock BOV. Only got the Cold side on for now...

If you have an OEM VTA valve, I believe you need a BOV on the cold pipe, a cap for the line going to the VTA valve and a resistor to hook up to the electrical connector. Mine came with all that.

Tint on the front doors of the car and a windshield visor. Bumper plugs to replace the tag mount are next. I need to get my tag today; I've finally received the dealer paperwork.

Also added the armrest cubby tray this weekend.

Added this little device when I got home today. Very easy. No more remembering to press that dumb button.

I have the stock piping with an upgraded TurboSmart BOV installed in the stock location. I ordered the hot side pipes with the stock location BOV assuming there would be a place to install my current one. I didn't receive anything in the box except the pipes, boots, and clamps for the hot and cold side. Kind of frustrating as I had to wait a month and a half for it to ship and now I can't install it. No word back from Brett yet...
