Technically this was done a few weeks ago, but got my tune squared away with @GooseTuned. Just on 91 but it still rips! Power delivery is so much better and the transmission tuning is amazing. It's actually a joy to drive now in Normal mode with the transmission shifting through the gears smooth as glass. The tune is worth the price for that alone. I haven't tried the transbrake yet.

Then a few days ago I installed the CVFabrication hot side pipes and Turbosmart BOV. You can kind of see the black wrinkle pipes through this spaghetti mess of an engine. The install wasn't bad at all once you figure out the proper way to snake the old pipes out and new pipes in. Pro-tip #1: If you have bigger hands, I suggest getting your significant other with help with the passenger side turbo clamp. Not much space down there! Pro-tip #2: Reuse the factory connecter from the intercooler to the Y-pipe and just use the CVFab T-clamp on the Y-pipe side only. This makes the install much easier as you can side the connecter back up against the Y (the CVFab silicone connector is much harder to do this with), then once everything is located in the right spot push it forward onto the intercooler. Plus the CVFab T-clamp will not fit up under the radiator support on the intercooler connector.

Looks good! I went with the FenFab hot/cold piping in raw. Definitely adds some cosmetic flare under the hood.

Yesterday I did the 1st oil change and tire rotation @5000 miles. Today I need to set up the appointment to have a CV boot (or complete axle shaft) replaced under warranty. I will also have them do the sw update per the recall notice I got the other week. 1000002143.jpg

Installed the HSF skid plate. Was super easy and looks great! Only thing is, the plastic connectors wouldn't work with the added thickness. I have to get some a little bit longer.

I didn't get pictures, but I had the RSA Stage 1 transmission installed. I'll give it a couple weeks before getting the Stage 5's & Nostrum goodies installed.

Gave the family whips a quick wash with my new Ryobi electric pressure washer. Very happy with my purchase.
So between the Highlander and Explorer, which one has had more repairs and problems? Just curious.

The Explorer for sure. The Highlander has been super reliable and hybrid gets 36mpg, but nothing beats the twin turbo v6 in fun factor.

My sister has a 2022 Highlander. The a/c condenser / Windshield get damage by rock super easy on the highway. I replace the a/c condenser last year after a rock put a hole in the condenser.

Oh that sucks. We have 2 small rock chips on the Highlander. My Explorer has had its window replaced after I dropped a wiper when cleaning it and broke the glass.

I was between a decked out Highlander and the ST when I made the purchase. I'm 100% convinced the Toyota would be a more reliable, longer lasting choice, but it was like driving a bar of soap. The ST is WAY more fun and still meets all my utilitarian needs.

As for what I'm doing with my Explorer, lots of action lately:
- Installed a CV Fab intercooler. Not a hard job at all and kind of fun if you like tinkering. Didn't break anything important and had no spare parts, so a success.

- Started the tuning process with ZFG. This is my first time tuning a vehicle, so learning as I go. Excited to get this thing moving for real!

Then the bad news, which was today. Long story short, to avoid a collision this morning, I moved over into a lane, but didn't realize how little runway it had (was a left turn lane) and hit a curb doing 45-50. Allignment seems ok, but rear tire has a big gooseegg on it and the front has some lacerations on the sidewall. Front wheel might be cracked as well. It drives ok, but I wouldn't want to take it on a roadtrip or push the speed with it right now. Sooooo...I'm looking at wheels and tires now. Good thing you can't take money with you when you die...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today?
Put a new battery in it. I started getting the going to sleep mode notices about 18 months ago. I did a BMS reset back then and never had the notice again until yesterday. I have a surgery coming up that will limit my movement and didn't want it the battery to "give it up" while my arm is in a sling and end up with my wife taking it somewhere to have it replaced. I really wanted to see how far the OE battery would go, but this forced my hand a little bit. The battery was a little over 4 years old.
