I have seen videos of the Ford Performance tune on Ranger Raptors showing very little gains just after the tune gets uploaded but then after a period of time being driven it shows more power later. They claim adaptation improves results later. Is this the case with all tunes (ZFG or Goose) for example or is this unique to the Ford Performance calibration?

That’s not a thing. The only thing that is close would be transmission adaptive learning, but that doesn’t have anything to do with power.

What are they experiencing in the clip?

My tune results were immediate. I did not notice any change over time. I would guess that the engine learns in the first 20 minutes of running but I’m no tuning expert. Transmission learning was pretty good right after tune but did get better.

A ZFG tune will give you everything it can as soon as you load it. The transmission adaptive learning is the only things that changes over time.

For me, just the transmission, and that was 10-14 days.

I've tested multiple tunes across our STs (Unleashed, Livernois, and ZFG)... all were instant changes. Transmission adaptations / learning took a bit of time.

There is not an adaption period on my performance tune. Just transmission learning as stated.

The stock tune and FP tune all have adaption built in due to the one size fits all method. They can learn up and down.

I don't ever recommend an auto octane/auto adjust when trying to make MORE power. It's dangerous and can get people in trouble quickly switching from say, 93 > 87. Lots of detonation doing that.

It's best/safest to keep an octane specific tune for longevity.
