Hello all Iam new to the community but I’ve owned a ST for 2 years now and my local dealer just did its 3rd warranty job on it. Transmission temp sensor and internal transmission harness, so they replaced the sensor, harness, filter and gasket. Now I found this consistent drip, I’ll definitely be taking it back in if it doesn’t self cure . Can anyone suggest as to what part this is and why would it fail? It looks like a lil push pin thing but idk. It sits on the passenger side of the transmission. Thank yall for your time and future responses!

Yea i'd suspect the pan/gasket , but see if you can follow where the drip ran from. It should be obvious if the pan is leaking right behind that heat shield tab.

Not impossible the crazy thing is they just replaced the gasket, I found this picture and my question is do those push pins go inside of the pan?

No they do not, but that appears to be the problem, I would take it back as is and let them figure it out.

I’ll be taking it to them Monday, I’ll update with a fix as soon as they get it right lol

Man I honestly wish I would’ve upgraded that shit, just got the st back today, dealership is assuming warped trans pan haha. So the replaced the pan, this is what ford gets for not using an aluminum pan… can’t wait till oil pan gets warped next.

I hate plastic so much I replaced both oil pan and trans pan and am glad I did. Plastic intake I get, plastic pan not so much.

**** yea bro I’m thinking about doing the same did you do the oil pan yourself? I’d do the tranny pan but they just put new fluid

I did both in my garage on a quickjack. Trans pan was super simple. Iirc the engine oil pan may have needed more finesse to install.

Plastic oil and trans pans are used on countless vehicles. There’s no issue with them whatsoever from a longevity standpoint. Any pan can have occasional issues no matter what material it’s made from…but plastic in and of itself isn’t a problem.

Don’t agree completely. Plastic can warp and/or become brittle with heat cycles. While I agree plastic isn’t inherently a problem, it is less durable than aluminum to some degree. Is it needed, not likely. Is it a little insurance, to some degree yes.

Besides, all of my mods didn’t NEED to be done but I wanted to do them

Whether a material warps of becomes brittle with heat cycles depends on the material. It has literally been a non-issue. Ford has used plastic pans for 15 years or so…warping isn’t happening.
I’m all for changing whatever people want. I have a PPE trans pan on mine…but not because of any perceived issue with the oem pan.

Did the oil and trans pan upgrade to aluminum fenfab/PPE.

Not so much because I was concerned the plastic stuff would self destruct. More for oil capacity increase and baffle upgrades to reduce chances of oil foaming by the pickup sucking air under certain conditions for the oil pan. Extra fluid capacity and magnetic drain plug on the transmission pan. And increased cooling for both via acting as heat sinks instead of plastic insulators (probably negligible, but makes me feel good).
