So.... Thought I'd resurrect this with an experiment.
I just bought a ST a few weeks ago.. it had a set of TPM sensors installed and they worked fine.
1 I bought a set of 2025 wheels and tires off a fellow board member.. the wheels had NO TPM sensors installed .
2 I bought a new set of TPM's had them mounted to the new wheels.
3 I've removed the the original set of wheels and tires that came with the car and mounted the new set.
4 I started ( there was an errant beep.. but the dash showed nothing) the car and drove around the block ~1 mile.. I unfortunately DID NOT note the pressures from the original set before pulling them off.. BUT the system DOES display pressures.. the suspicious thing is that the "pattern" of relative pressures is the same as the original set.. that is the LF/RF/LR are all the same while the RR is one pound off as it was with the original.
My expectation was that the system would complain about "Un-Registered" or Unknown TPM's were found.. or that there would be no pressures displayed at all.
More to follow.... I'll give it a day or so and report back
<<UPDATE>>
Drove about 10 miles .. 5 miles each way (Home Depot.. parked for 20 mina).... values stayed the same... I'm thinking this dispels the "The car will find them theory"
Guess I'll try trying to get them added to the system next.
<<UPDATE>>
This worked.. Via STJim
"
1. Turn the ignition to on
2. Put the car int relearn by pushing and releasing brake pedal once
3. Push the start button 5 times.
4. Push brake pedal one more time then push start button 6 times
.... Car goes into LEARN MODE with a pop up screen verifying it.
5. Move to LF Hold your "Activation Tool" next to the sidewall next to the valve stem... Horn will beep.
6. Move to RF Hold your "Activation Tool" next to the sidewall next to the valve stem... Horn will beep.
7. Move to RR Hold your "Activation Tool" next to the sidewall next to the valve stem... Horn will beep.
8. Move to RL Hold your "Activation Tool" next to the sidewall next to the valve stem... Horn will beep.
9. Then the screen will show successful.
Time for beer!
The biggest confusion seems to be between RELEARN and RESET Above is the RELEARN the RESET.. where you let the air out is when you rotate your tires
